"You know you don't REALLY want to go to work...pull a sickie...your boss will never know."

"I am the boss! Pack it in Agatha! You've had me up half the night! I'm exhausted. I'm also in my work suit, and have a Zoom call with the Ops team in Hanover in under an hour."

"I can make you forget all about that Colin!"

"Yes. You could. But let. me. go. I'm going to miss my train!"

Will Colin make his train? Will Agatha's feminine wiles lure him back into her clutches?

Time for the real info about the painting. It's a biblical scene of Potiphar's wife tries to seduce Joseph. I mean, come on! The reality was probably that Jospeh had a bit of a thing for Potiphar's wife too, but that wouldn't fit the narrative back then that women are sex-crazed temptresses who cause chaos. She doesn't even have a name but is referred to as a possession. Anyway, it was painted in the C17th by Carlo Cignani and of Baroque style.

Image shows a dark haired beautiful woman wrapped in nothing but a bed sheet draped over her lap with an arm outstretched trying to turn her potential lover's head gently with her hand. He has bronze hair and is fully dressed in a blue robe with a rust-coloured cloak. He is arched away from her with his hands in a silent movie-esque pose of 'keep away'. The painting is in a decorative gold frame. Across the whole thing is a huge light flare from the windows opposite. SO annoying!

Etching (well, dry point) I did in 1975 at the Central. Norman Ackroyd ran the print room and he’d regularly shout at me for doing stupid things, like turning the aquatint box handle too vigorously or something...

Degas abandoned this work at a relatively early stage of preparation and it remained in the studio until his death. While some areas are quite sketchy, others, such as the woman’s profile and details of her hat are painted with great delicacy. This picture belongs to a group of works in which Degas explored the effect of light on the human figure. An old label on the back of the painting calls it ‘At the Race-Course’, which may explain the woman’s elegant appearance.
