The question remains: who’s next?
Péter Magyar victory speech:
"We want to make a country where no one is persecuted because they think differently or because someone loves in a different way to others."
He may not have campaigned as a liberal. But this is a huge change of direction and rhetoric from Orbán’s anti-LGBTQ+ crusade.
Memes aside, Hungary has shown us that authoritarian illiberalism is not inevitable; strongmen are consigned to the dustbin of history sooner than they expect 🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺
Hungary was the playbook for anti LGBTQ policy in the west. Don't say gay in Florida was modeled on policies adopted there, which they modeled off of Russia. Same with ending legal recognition of trans people. They restricted access to transition care in 2020.

The corona of the Sun is seen as a bright glow in the center of this almost completely black image with streamers pointing away from it. The moon is eclipsing the sun as a huge black disk from the top right of the frame.

For the sake of humanity, Trump must go
He is insane.
And this is an open declaration of intended genocide.
If any other world leader said this, there would be sanctions and an arrest warrant, not just for him, but for his whole regime.
Finally, one of my Iranian research colleagues replied to my email. The email of another bounced. They've been without internet for 40 days. They're OK, but in a very stressful situation, continuously receiving bad news.
In defense of #HumanRights, please!

I’m deeply saddened to hear the news that Dr. Birutė Galdikas has died. She was an inspirational and compassionate scientist who made the world that little bit better for both humans and orangutans 🦧🧪

Ancient feathers found in the Ychsma tomb in Pachacamac. Credit: George Olah
Live parrots were transported over the Andes for their feathers in ancient Peru, according to research in Nature Communications. Analysis of still-colourful feathers found in a Ychsma-era tomb suggests a complex and widespread economy that predates the Incan empire. go.nature.com/4umFAnh 🏺 🧪
