Megalodon piece made as a birthday gift for my good friend @theblueleviathan.bsky.social! Having a mock-up of the scene built out in Blender was great for figuring out a composition, I’ll include a video of the scene in the next part of this thread! #paleosky #megalodon

And the video of the scene- the models are rough as I just wanted a quick block out, but I was able to keep a lot of the visual information to use in the final paintover. Which was a big timesaver!

Rocks and waves- feel like this is a good breakthrough for the kind of impressionistic approach I want to push more in my oil studies!

Hayao Miyazaki films start in his sketches—his "image boards." It’s a habit he’s kept up for 60 years.

He works fast and loose, mainly in pencil and watercolor. Perfection isn't the goal. But you can trace his growth through the pictures. We explore:

Oh yeah that’s an issue I had as well when trying to find an ultralight solution! Funny enough tho, there’s a collapsible selfie stick tripod (I believe it’s from KraftGeek) that perfectly fits this easel and all fits down into a nice tiny frame!

Yeah! The artist who builds them, Kelly Micca, really made such a clever solution. I love the set up- between the easel and the selfie stick I use as a tripod, the whole thing weighs about 2 lbs so great for hiking and painting!
