Spell A. It's the becoming prepared that causes the copy to appear. The creature's already prepared when it becomes a copy of the other creature, and it's still prepared afterward. #WotCstaff
I’m definitely not contending that this case is easy to understand; I’ve probably spent more time than is healthy trying to fix this exact issue. Unfortunately, it’s pretty entrenched, and trashing the current spellcasting process and starting over wouldn’t really be worth the gains here. #WotCstaff

This is also a confusion kind of endemic to static abilities. Understanding why “Elf creatures have trample” stops working if a creature stops being an Elf, but “Target Elf creature gains trample” keeps working in that case (after it’s resolved) requires a strong knowledge of rules. #WotCstaff
Right. This interaction (and Lier’s) tend to be pretty unintuitive for people. Unfortunately, they’re fallout of a system for casting spells that works intuitively *most* of the time. #WotCstaff
That shouldn’t work, so it seems like it might be a bug. I’ll pass that along to the Arena team to investigate. #WotCstaff
Right. “This spell can’t be copied” works only on the stack. The card can still be copied in other zones. #WotCstaff

Looks like I made an error in the #MTGStrixhaven release notes, specifically on Ambitious Augmenter. In the Anointed Procession case, both tokens should receive the counters, as indicated by CR 122.8. I’m working on getting the document corrected. Thanks to those who mentioned it! #wotcstaff
