Trump's own Special Military Operation is now in day 54, and he has moved from demanding Iran's unconditional surrender on day 7 to asking them to please negotiate on day 54.

Fuel made from Russian oil is surging into California, even though such sales help pay for that nation’s ongoing war with Ukraine
If less fuel use or production is necessary, regulate it.
Regulation by taxing it is regressive (unfair), and uncertain in effect.
Directly regulating production is certain in effect, but alone can be regressive. Adding rationing makes it fair.
With production cuts certain, price can be capped.
The scientific evidence is absolutely crystal clear:
We are certain the world is warming because we're burning fossil fuels and putting more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere
So we have to stop doing that
We also need to adapt to the changes we've already caused

Does a stable or increasing water exchange between the Atlantic and the Nordic Seas mean the #AMOC is stable, as some have argued? 🌊
Nope. The opposite is the case.

"The results show that historical SST increases have reduced SLB days by 3–45% in 67% of these cities, with mid-latitude cities experiencing the largest declines (29–45%) as a result of a more than 5% reduction in diurnal sea–land thermal contrast"

I would expand on that. If less use or production of something is necessary, regulate it.
Regulation by taxation is regressive (unfair), and uncertain in effect.
Instead, directly regulating production is certain in effect, but alone can be regressive. Adding rationing to that makes it fair.
When does a cruise ship of this size be called instead a floating apartment block?
In a nutshell. 😊
"Every person who files a complaint, makes a call, sends a letter, shows up at an office, crashes a fundraiser, or loudly shows up somewhere they were not expected is an atom now excited and generating energy."

Cruise lines are growing climate-destroying DISCRETIONARY TRAVEL as fast as they can.
The growth isn't regulated, not even by the Paris climate agreement.

A vicious circle of self aggrandisement of port owners and the companies that have to constantly strengthen the port infrastructure. Why does the City and State allow this?
We are living in an age of the grotesque. If are showing off money, can you not think of one other way to spend it? If you’ve think it makes you special, testifies to your exceptionalism, you could not be more wrong. The world despises you for your destruction of our marine and port environments.
Great news. The private jet event
EBACE26 due to take place in Geneva June 2026 has been cancelled💚
Private jets continues to face political, regulatory and reputational pressure from activists, the public and politicians. And it works🚫✈️

I don’t even know what to say anymore… Two cruise ships so far this season — both emitting a huge amount of pollution over our community and our beautiful city. I’m crushed it’s happening again this year. #yyjpoli #climatecrisis
Photo - "Norwegian Aura Floated Out." The photo shows a large crowd of people on a dock which is across the stern of the ship, on a sunny day. They are miniature in comparison to the massive ship. The ship's superstructure is complete, but not yet fitted out with windows and refinements, which will be completed at another location.
Cruise ships keep getting bigger, and bigger.
No matter climate change, and the non-necessity of cruise travel. It is wholly discretionary travel.
Photo & article are about Norwegian Cruise lines biggest ship yet. Note the scale, people vs. ship.

Pretty extraordinary that the U.S. is experiencing its worst March drought on record, worse even than the Dust Bowl years of the 1930s. Drought is the most dangerous threat of climate change.
This season, Victoria will see 330+ cruise ships arrive. There are 60 days this season with 3 or 4 ships in port. Get all your breathing done now, folks, as the Polluting for Profit Armada will be with us until Oct 18. You'll hear 'think of the money' but remember the cost to the community.
This ! It's a global policy and the core project of capitalism. Everyone for themselves because society doesn't exist, people are merely consumers and nobody has time to be implicated in commons and public matters.
Or you could be on a bicycle
Powering DCs with renewable energy simply pushes dirty energy into other industries. As DCs suck up available supplies of renewable energy infrastructure, the cost of renewable energy goes up for other sectors of the economy.
