I grew up in DuPage cty & that was how we pronounced it. My gramps was German. My brother still pronounces it that way.

3 ducklings and a duck box. One brown & yellow chick sits in the hole of the box. 1 chick is just visible by its beak in the lower left of the hole in the box. The 3rd chick had lept free of the box and is belly down, legs and little bitty wings are askance.
