Immature Purple Gallinule, wings back, feathers well ruffled. Full dense coloration has not come in yet. Smaller marsh-wader, wedge shaped beak.

Possibly an Indigo Bunting. Very small bird, blue on chest and parts of neck, green otherwise. Maybe the blue isn't all the way developed, or perhaps I've misidentified.....

A male red-winged blackbird perched on a thin branch of a dead looking tree. He is extra-fluffed up, making him look quite fat. His tail is spread and his floof is making him as wide as the tail. You can see the red feathers on his shoulder giving him his name.

A male European Stonechat (Saxicola rubicola), perched on top of a spikey Gorse bush. His body, Robin-like in size and shape, is facing us and slightly to our right while his head is turned to the left of the picture. His head, including his beak (which is open) and eye, is black; his throat is also black but on either side of his neck he has a white 'collar'. What we can see of his shoulders, one wing and his tail are also dark in colour, but his chest is a bright reddish-orange colour and his belly a pale, slightly orangey-white. His legs and feet are black. The background is blue in colour, thanks to the sea rather than the sky.

The late low light caught the Short-eared Owl against the blue sky to make a stunning sight. They breed on some of the smaller #FalklandIslands but we only ever saw one.

What you can't see in this photograph is the female Tundra swan just to the right, behind the bird on the right-off screen who was being wooed by the Tundra on the right--the one with their head aimed toward water with lots of commotion in the water around the bird. The Tundra swan on the left had the misfortune to say something to the male in the middle of their mating "dance", which made the swan on the right take a jab at the interloper. Neither bird was harmed in these macho displays, just lots of fun for us viewers.
