Trois aigrettes garzette posées pieds dans l'eau le long de la rive d'un étang, tandis qu'une quatrième aigrette est en train d'arriver dos à l'objectif pour se poser à côté d'elles, ailes déployées et pieds prêts à se poser. Les trois aigrettes sont ramassées sur elles mêmes, plumes gonflées et cou rentré dans les épaules pour se protéger du froid. Derrière elles, la rive de l'étang est couverte de salicorne, joncs et végétation diverse, le tout coloré d'une teinte cuivrée intense. L'eau de l'étang renvoie les coloris cuivrés ainsi que le reflet des oiseaux qui tranche avec son blanc éclatant sur la surface rouge sombre.

A little egret stands side-on in bright sunlight, its pure white plumage glowing against a dark blue water background. The bird’s long black bill points forward and its pale yellow eye is sharp and very alert. Fine, delicate feathers cascade down its back, and thin black legs are partly hidden among green grass at the water’s edge.
