My first post on here! Delighted to see this glossy ibis in Shore Rd Dundalk last week - apologies for poor pics taken on phone through scope... 99 species in Ireland so far this year - hoping to beat last year's total of 165. #birds #birdwatching #BirdWatchIreland #IrishBirds

A landscape photograph taken at dusk with a heavy sense of motion. In the upper left, a dark silhouette of a heron with long wings is captured in flight against a pale, gradient sky of soft blue and warm peach. Below, the dark silhouettes of evergreen and deciduous trees are blurred horizontally, suggesting movement from a vehicle or a panning camera. Two thin, dark utility lines stretch across the mid-ground. The overall mood is ethereal, fleeting, and calm.

A rook, his feathers various shades of black, faces the camera while standing proudly on a moss-covered stone wall. Behind the bird is a brown river in full flood, some city buildings, and a pale grey sky.

Saw this rook elegantly picking at some damp moss in #Cork city today #corvid #IrishBirds #photography

Oystercatcher - BirdWatch Ireland The Oystercatcher is a large, distinctive wader with long orange-red bill, black head, chest and upperparts and white underparts.

Saw one of these at Trá na bhForbacha last weekend and didn't have a clue what it was.

Now feeling very lucky! 😮

I'm always in awe of migratory birds. These fly over from Iceland & the Faroe Islands ❄️

Glad to see the Meadow Pippits feeding in the back fields again after not hearing them for two months.

Lots of birds feeding on seeds & berries today.

Common Scoter. Melanitta nigra. 06 Sep 2025. Kinnegar Shore, Belfast.

Picked up these Common Scoters off Kinnegar Shore this morning. A regular winter visitor to Belfast Lough, but it’s rare for them to drift in so close to my little corner. #Birds #Birding #IrishBirds

Even surrounded by farmland I have these birds feeding from a patch of concrete 'grown' Redshank.

@birdwatchireland.bsky.social

They were about robin-sized. I was guessing female linnet but my camera quality does not do them justice.
