Donald Trump and Republicans have tried to rig the 2026 midterms. Today in Virginia, voters sent them a clear message: The power is with the people.

I find it really frustrating that voting isn’t compulsory. When you grow up learning that it’s your civic duty to vote, that opting out isn’t a choice voting days looks and feels very different for both the people voting and the people on the ballot. And the first past the post thing 😫

I’m well aware of how the dysfunctional federal system works in Canada. Election reform, imposing results for education and housing funding, using the powers the feds have re energy and other federal programmes, moral persuasion re the FOI are some ways the feds can pressure provincial govts.

Some mid-air junco battles from the other day. They do these amazing, spiraling aerial battles. It's taken some practice to be quick enough to catch them. Most of my shots are of empty sky :) #birds 🌿
