That's the only logical conclusion.

We need to say it out loud more.

Day 4: Murky

I've just started asking them, in no round-about way, what in their life caused them to be misogynist/homophobic/racist/ xenophobic etc. I avoid broad terms like "bigoted". Generally I don't hear back, which is a shame.

A pole with a PB/5 attached, that has a sticker on it that says "Keep South Australia Beautiful" with the image of a stylised person throwing a swastika into the bin. This sticker is covering up transphobic garbage.

Been seeing more and more transphobic stickers going up around the place. They look well intentioned - there's a rainbow heart, there's messaging about being perfect just how you are. But when you read into it, it's just #transphobe garbage. Slap something better on top since I couldn't peel it off.

Partook in some mild #carryshitolympics with the #omnium minimax yesterday. Bedding straw for the chooks.

Maybe she needs to change her surname to a Nintendo licenced character's name?

Whenever I'm towing something - and in particular my little sailboat - I'm so careful because I really don't want to end up on the internet.

I use a great (or nearly great) RSS to email doodad on Github. My feed comes to me as an email every morning. I don't need another app to open. I just skim and read what feels interesting.

The Overland The story of Serviceton is quite interesting. The town sprung up around the train station that existed only because South Australia and Victoria picked different rail gauges for the networks.

I wrote a little thing about The Overland, travelling from Adelaide to Melbourne.

Chamber's Gully - They Paved Paradise I'd heard rumours that the trail had been "upgraded", so decided I needed to go and take a look. As I entered the trail from Waterfall Gully Road I didn't think it was too different. A few creek cross...

I was so surprised by today's ride up Chamber's Gully in #Adelaide that I had to write about it:

“Bike-lanes take up too much space & make streets dangerous!”

(They actually make streets safer for everyone.

Data doesn’t lie. On streets with protected bike-lanes, crash rates typically drop—for drivers, cyclists, & pedestrians.)

See @momentummag.bsky.social for more comebacks to common myths.

Bear is not a fan of posing. She'll tolerate it, but makes it clear that she trades posing for schnacks.

Happy National Wattle Day!
A day to celebrate Australia and being Australian.
But after the way some Australians behaved yesterday, I am not feeling it.

A step in the right direction This is an area that has had some attention in recent years, getting a concrete protrusion into the street to give pedestrians a better view of the street for safer crossing. It now looks like it's go...

My council is going to put in a zebra crossing near my street. I wrote to them last year about making my street a #woonerf which got shut down pretty firmly by the mayor, but now they're going to build a zebra crossing. A step in the right direction!

Sitting around in this place it felt like it had been there forever. Which is incredibly heartening, because it shows what can be done with just a bit of effort.

Parking lot Turns out that the square on Via Guiseppe Mario Puglia wasn't always a gorgeous music filled space with a restaurant and bar. It took concerted effort. And what a result!

Hey Brent - you might be interested in this little square in Palermo that I found when I was there last year. I was surprised when I saw what it had looked like in the past. And thanks, Street View for enabling time-travel:

Yeah, it would be. It's an 1800 mile drive from my house. Through pretty intense terrain.
