My council is going to put in a zebra crossing near my street. I wrote to them last year about making my street a #woonerf which got shut down pretty firmly by the mayor, but now they're going to build a zebra crossing. A step in the right direction!

One of the most intriguing & misunderstood street design and place-making ideas in the world is the Dutch #Woonerf, or “living street.” When I studied woonerfs while working for the City of Groningen, I learned the key is street design that makes it impossible to drive faster than people can walk.

Pretty sure Rep Power is the only member of #orleg who knows what a #woonerf is and she's certainly the only one who actually has experience implementing one (while she was a Milwaukie city councilor). 😁...
