Look. We're living in interesting times. But that doesn't mean we can't carve out moments of joy. For ourselves. What kind of Queer Joy have you had lately?

If you ACT like you don't see transphobia as as big a deal as other acts of cruelty? Trans people aren't going to see you as a SAFE or trustworthy person. For good reason.
Stop Tolerating Intolerance. Make it SAFE for Trans people to be visible.

If your company is supporting acts or initiatives that hurt trans people? Like, for example, doing a product deal with JKR who is actively funding acts of genocidal violence?? Speak up on behalf of trans people so they don't have to.

If you're a manager? refuse to serve transphobes.

Call it out for what it is. Don't assume your trans colleague is okay with it just because they kept their mouth shut. when they're likely trying to keep themselves safe from retaliation. Call it out in the moment and speak up in their defense. Stop minimizing acts of hatred

Be aware of what's happening to your trans colleagues and community members. If you see them being disrespected? If someone says some bigoted fuckshit? If people treat them like they're scarier or more dangerous or less competent than non transgender people with identical qualities?

So here's my call to action this year. Don't JUST educate yourself on trans people. Don't JUST ask people's pronouns and correct yourself when you make a mistake.

Visibility doesn't mean safety. In fact it means the opposite. With all the campaigning against trans people's right to simply exist, transgender people who are visibly trans are at massive risk in this world.
That's why in November we have the flipside of TODOV. The Trans Day of Rememberence.

Today is the Transgender Day of Visibility.

This is a time to acknowledge the unique challenges that come from being visible.

Trans people have been on a lot of people's minds lately. That hasn't meant these people weren't ignorant. Or Hateful. Violent. Transphobic. Misogynist.

The #Transgender flag was designed in 1999 by Monica Helms. The Blue and Pink were chosen as traditional masculine and feminine colors and the white was chosen to represent intersex people, people in transition and people who are outside the binary. #FlagFriday

This community owes everything to the contributions of BIPOC members. This community is built off of those members contributions. And those members are thrown under the bus daily by people who claim about the community.

The Progress Pride flag IS the best flag for this community at large so far. The majority of the community isn't white.
