It was a long dark morning the day I shot it!

A view high up on snow covered slopes, looking toward the valley below. Clouds, thousands of feet below cover the warm lights of a small Swiss town. In the background huge glacial peaks reach into a pink and orange sky!
Grindelwald, Switzerland.
I stood outside in -4f/-18c weather for an hour with an additional -20f windchills to get this photo last month, and I think it was so worth it!
It's no wonder I always use any excuse to visit Grindelwald. No matter the season, it is gorgeous.

A house is covered with blooming wisteria along a canal. In the distance, an orange sky silhouette a gothic cathedral.
Spring in Strasbourg, France is so freaking lovely!
Once you add in a few good coffee shops, one of my favorite stationary stores (Monogram), and the gorgeous setting... it's no wonder we come so often.

A list of 16 fountain pen inks, with the colors to match them.
Inks I'm currently using in my pens!
Imperial Purple, Kon-Peki, and Tsutsuji are my 3 favs, and are ALWAYS in a pen.
I just found out today that Sailor is discontinuing a lot of inks, so I'll probably need to find similar colors to replace the Sailor inks once my bottles are empty.

In the foreground stands an arch through a medieval gate. Other the other side is cobbled street winding through a town of pastel timber framed houses.
We are headed to Alsace this week!
Other than the Alps, Alsace is my most visited spot since we moved. Partially because it's close, but also because it's so pretty.
This pic is from my visit to Riquewihr last spring!

Rolling green hills under an orange sky.
Sunrise in Tuscany.
I shot this from the walls of San Gimignano.
I hadn't known before we arrived that the region was so hilly, or lush. I had thought it was mostly orchards or farming, which it was, but also it was beautiful.

The Duomo in Florence under an orange sky. It is a massive cathedral, taller than anything else in the city. The iconic red dome is so huge it stretches multiple city blocks.
The Duomo in Florence.
While taking this, someone tried to pick-pocket me, but got nothing.
The only other time someone has tried to pickpocket me was in Paris, though in Bath, a British guy told me to give him my wallet. I told him to go f-himself, and he told me I was rude.

A canal winds between bricked buildings. In the distance, under a purple sky, is a towering belfry.
I have a trip to Belgium and the Netherlands in June.
I can't decide between adding in Bruges (the photo below), or Ghent.
I have a few winter photos of Bruges, but would love some with greenery. On the other hand, I've never been to Ghent...
Which should I do?

A cobbled street lined with buildings that have covered archways on their lower street side level. In the distance is a tall clocktower towering over the city.
On my trip to the Alps last week I stopped in Bern.
There is a really nice pen shop there called Watch and Write, where I picked up a vintage Lamy 25p!
I also got checked out some museums and did some sunrise photos...

The Swiss Alps on full wintery display. A valley rests thousands of feet below, while ridges above it are topped with snow covered conifers. In the distances is a row of glacial capped peaks.
I had a wonderful time this past week in Switzerland. It doesn't matter the season, I just love visiting the Alps.
Plus I got to visit a friend in Alsace and do some stationary/pen shopping in Bern. It was solid trip.

A village in a valley with rolling green hills. In the distances are striking granite cliffs rising thousands of feet, one has a huge waterfall, while others are capped with snow, all beneath a pink sky.
I spent a week in Paris and now I'm heading to the Alsace and then the Alps!
I'm not sure how much time we have left here in Germany and Europe (hopefully more) but just in case I'm doing my best to enjoy my favorite places.

We found a new vintage fountain pen…
Neuschwanstein, the famous castle rests on a small ridge along the alps. Behind it, rests a green valley and lake.
Neuschwanstein isn't my favorite castle... but it's one of those ones that you kind of just have to go see. It is so amazing from the outside.
For a more lived-in castle I much prefer the one here in Heidelberg or Burg Eltz.

In the foreground, a cobble road leads to a stone tower, with a gothic lantern before it. In the background is the Prague Castle under a cotton candy colored sky.
Prague was one of the earliest trips we took after moving to Germany, and still one of the prettiest cities we've been to.
I'm not sure when or if we will get back to it, but I think I'd really like to see it dusted with snow.

It is pretty great!
A cobbled street meets paved asphalt with a pink restaurant in the middle. Bright green ivy climbs the surrounded structures and the sky is lit with a mix of pinks and peaches.
I'm going back to Paris soon. So I thought I'd share this from last summer.
France was my most traveled to country last year, but It's only a 1hr drive and sometimes we go because the grocery stores are better.
I do like Paris though. Mostly for the coffee and stationary.

Merry Christmas, from Germany!
Sketch break…
Vienna is lovely in December.
Christmas in Strasbourg!
Time FLIES!!!!
In the foreground are flowers, and a Baroque tower. The middle ground is filled with red roofs, while in the background is a mountain with a pink sandstone castle nestled into it.
Today marks exactly 3 1/2 years that we have lived in Heidelberg.
I love this city, and the castle!
Ich wünschte, mein Deutsch wäre besser. Es ist Kaka. Na ja. Ich lerne.
