This is not wrong.

Yes, that is a consideration. A lot of the Terry Pratchett audiobooks disappeared when the new ones came out so Cold Dead Hands re: my CDs.

On the other hand, I just rewatched an old favorite movie which aged like milk. So I have to decide - do I love something or love the memories of it?

I’m purging my DVDs on the basis of “Would I be crushed if I can’t find this on streaming” and running into the problem that my tastes are both niche and ancient enough that a lot of it was never on streaming in the first place.

Seems to be fixed now? Why is blaming AI for all the blocks. Did we hurted the nonsentient software’s imaginary fee-fees?

Would have liked enough warning to create a personal list of the folks who showed up on my Quiet posters, but apparently we’re about to lose even follower feeds for not sufficiently loving the plaigerism machine.

This Is Just To Say

I have turned off
the AI features
that were in
the update

you were probably
hoping
to monetize

Fuck you
they were stupid
so unnecessary
and so annoying

That’s called “Wikipedia” and it’s how I’ve watched 2/3 of the Marvel universe so I can spend my time with just the movies I want to see

Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage.
A woman answers the door.
We have come for the child, says the hooded figure
So soon? she asks
It is time, says the hooded figure.
The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card!
What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure
We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading!
For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness
Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman,
the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them.
Do not cry mother.
I am a writer now.

I’ve worked hard this weekend but feel I got “nothing done” because so little of it was on the list.

When you use AI to do your writing, you are telling your audience: “I deserve your attention, but you do not deserve my effort.”

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

Worst cleaning nightmare I know is a modern house built to look like a log cabin - complete with unfinished wood half logs on every inside wall. Spider, dust, and splinter city.

Seriously, she is *still* howling that an afab lived as a girl her whole life woman isn’t “really” female & yet people still think it’s not her simply trying to force a personal idea of “acceptable presentation” upon the whole wide world? Theres no reason or commonality with that kind of crazy.

They’re *wrong* that’s why! The details of the ceilings don’t match the doorways, half the furniture in the kitchen looks like it’s being eaten by the walls… every detail was designed solo w/o consulting anyone else on the project & everyone was high on a different designer drug.

It’s a rare gravestone where the wife gets the majority of the text and the husband is the 2-line afterthought. #cemeterysunday

IP theft & ecological destruction aside, high-pressure selling “Software Will Do It All For You & The Computers Running It Will Never Fail” is such a weird take for those of us who survived the high-pressure Y2K “All The Computers Will Stop & Civilization Will END (Unless You Buy My Stuff)” campaign

I do not want to create an account or open a subscription I just want to buy a thing and never hear from you again why is this so hard.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you’re under absolutely no obligation to justify yourself to anyone if you choose to spend the entire weekend reading a good book, making multiple cups of tea, and indulging in a borderline scandalous amount of cinnamon rolls.

Headline in today's Guardian that reads "Reading and writing can lower dementia risk by almost 40 percent, study finds. Cognitive health in later life is 'strongly influenced' by lifelong exposure to intellectually stimulating environments, say researchers."

This is why you need to be reading books and writing your own emails, by the way. When you outsource your thinking abilities, you risk turning your brain into soup. Heavy dependence on AI has already been linked with severe cognitive decline. What you don’t use, you will lose.

Also apparently the enslaved people couldn’t mark the graves of their friends/family … so at least at Montpelier they planted periwinkle over the graves. So when they find a field of periwinkles on the land, they bring out the ground penetrating radar.
