Discord stream The Shaman, the Outsider, and the Diet of Worms: Worldbuilding Through Negative Space Stanley Baxton Stanley has a problem with worldbuilding. He has such a problem, he made a whole game about it, and went on to win Best Experimental Game at last year’s NarraScope showcase. In this talk, Stanley will deconstruct the approach he took to worldbuilding in his project Diet of Worms, offer alternatives to putting everything into a public-access wiki, and show how “subtextual” worldbuilding can be used as a narrative tool in itself. Text: The Well-Edited Game: How Professional Editing Elevates Our Medium Jess Haskins, Marissa Koors Editing is an integral part of the creative process in traditional media. But in games, editorial responsibilities are scattered across disciplines or skipped altogether. What do game editors actually do? Are editors only for narrative games? How does editing interact with other aspects of production? What should you consider before working with an editor? We’ll demystify the editorial process and make the case for including editors in every game’s development. We’ll break down the different types of editing, highlight successful interventions from past projects, and share why we believe 2026 is the year of the game editor.
Hey, I'm gonna be speaking at @narrascope.org in Albany in June! I'm delighted to team up with fellow editor Marissa Koors to dig into the hot new trend of having your game edited and how you can get in on the craze. 2026, year of the game editor!

11:15 AM-12:00 NOON (US EASTERN) Room LC20 Going Union Part 2: How Indies Can Hire Top-Tier Talent And Not Break Their Budget Francisco González In the years since my NarraScope 2023 talk, SAG-AFTRA has gone on strike to obtain better protection for voice actors against AI and developed a new version of their contract. I'll explain the new contract, and provide personal experience of the casting, directing, and production process for both my game Rosewater and a work-for-hire project, Foolish Mortals. Working with union actors is within financial reach and less bureaucratically complicated than indie developers might imagine. DES [voiceover, production, indies]
This June! Albany! I’m speaking at @narrascope.org!
An update to my 2023 talk, I’ll be outlining the process of how easy it is for tiny indies to work with SAG-AFTRA voice talent.
