This beautifully illustrates why hiring a deaf professional is so important.

We worked with a hearing designer with a great portfolio, but even after explaining deaf culture and our vision, this is what we ended up with.

As a deaf chef, I found this to be one of the most accessible kitchens I’ve ever worked in—complete with an interpreter, the first and only time in my culinary career.

There was a deaf-owned poke restaurant in Vancouver but it has closed. One day Canada will have more! Deaf-owned restaurants have grown in number especially in the last 10 years.
