Pan is not depicted in art until his worship spread from Arcadia in the early 5th century BCE. In this image from an Attic drinking vessel, Pan appears with the head and hindquarters of a goat, playing a double-reed (aulos) rather than the more familiar Pan-pipes (syrinx).

Kappa are water-dwelling yōkai known for their mischievous and sometimes dangerous behavior. They have a depression on their head called a sara (Plate) that holds water; if it dries out or spills, they lose their strength. Offer a cucumber with your name on it to appease them! #Kappa #Yokai
Illustration by Shigeru Mizuki of a tree with round fruits each with a human face.
Illustration of a tree in a rocky landscape. On the tree are peach-like fruits, each with a human face.
In #JapaneseFolklore there is a #yokai tree known as jinmenju. It has flowers that look like human heads. If you laugh at the tree, the heads will laugh back. However, if you make them laugh too much, they'll wilt and fall off before bearing their face-shaped fruit.

On the well manicured golf green sits a gold tee and ball. The ball is marked "Spiderlest." On the ball sits an absolutely adorable spider (adorable if you aren't an arachnophobe). The title reads "Caddy Long-Legs."

Promotional image for an event titled "The X Trials: Law and the Supernatural" on 19 October from 7-9 PM. The background shows a historic stone castle at night, with a large, glowing full moon in the top right corner and a star-filled sky, giving a mysterious and supernatural vibe. At the top, a dark purple banner contains the event title in bold, white, spooky-style text, followed by the subtitle and date details in a smaller font. A QR code is located in the bottom right corner. The overall design creates a haunting and intriguing atmosphere.
Come see us at Colchester Castle on the 19th of October from 7 to 9 PM for a fascinating look at the connection between law and the supernatural with barrister Naomi Ryan. We'll be diving into some pretty strange legal cases involving witches, ghosts, and more!
🎨 Painting "Sounds of Autumn" (秋聲圖), by artist Wen Huiming (文徵明) (1470 — 1559) 人有山行墮深澗者,無出路,飢餓欲死。
