i would just add in terms of what we can do is to think structurally, work towards an end to unjust war, oppression and (settler) colonial violence - these are at the root of antibiotic resistance here and we wont handwash our way out of it

I describe it as such as a historian of disability because I want to remind scientists and the world that the history of science IS the history of eugenics, scientific racism and medical racism, and more.
I’m not comforting them with the idea that it was a ‘pseudoscience.’

in hindsight even a little bit of that grounding would have been so valuable for me trying to find my feet as a researcher 🥹

and while STEM researchers (me included) are *not* taught how to do that work of critically picking apart how social relations are overlaid onto every aspect of our research... its another thing to approach work that does try to do this as lesser - less important, less rigorous etc
