Honestly - bc having a full head prosthetic applied/managed does feel intimate and romantic under the right circumstances 😂 (despite the fact it feels really gross and uncomfortable underneath all that stuff) and I had the same thought when I saw this pic

everyone should try and ship a rarepair at least once in their life. it is very fulfilling work. no fretting about numbers. just pure being unhinged about your favourite characters kissing. you appreciate every kudo and comment because the max capacity of interactions you'll ever hit is 10

drawing fitted into elongated romboid shape, longer on top. The shape is orange coloured, with purple border around. In the middle there's purple DS9 mug, one of those wider at the base. It's full of dark beverage with a small amount of whipped cream on top. Mug is surrouded by three small pumpkins. There's a text that says "Quark's pumpkin spice raktajino", where "Quark's" is written on top in big bold letters like the logo of the ferengi bar. There are also two small black bats at the very top of romboid.

Still thinking about JAWS. I'm fascinated by the dynamics at play between the three main guys (and Brody & Ellen, too). So many little character moments that, in a lesser film, would never have been thought of. So many things touched on that could've been spelled out but are left semi-unexplained.

Daughter liked JAWS so much she chose to watch it again with her dad for their movie night. I'm just so very proud of her taste sometimes ❤️

How is it that the (perfect) song "Be My Angel" by Mazzy Star has existed since NINETEEN NINETY, and yet no one has ever used it for a Destiel fanvid/edit? Or Good Omens? Or anything else I don't know about that involves angelshipping? Someone needs to rectify this immediately...

Totally, I went through that ew slash is gross era, too, as a young kid. Then I got into Star Trek and was like wait, but Kirk and Spock are clearly OTP, maybe I was wrong. Then Fellowship of the Ring came out when I was 16 and well... that was influential for a lot of us I think 😂

Jadzia deserved so much better!! I watched DS9 in high school too, just a little earlier, right after it was done airing. I shipped Garak/Bashir so hard back then, so this recent revival of that ship in the last few years has been healing :)

Awww! Yeah, I appreciate that we can all agree that you can never go too wrong blaming Rick for the sins of 90s Trek! I didn't watch DS9 until right after it was done airing, but I can only imagine how frustrating that must have been for Jadzia fans at the time, the treatment she ended up getting 🤬

My daughter, who is generally suspicious of anything that looks "old" (pre-90s), LOVED IT??? She pronounced it "not that scary," although she did praise Bruce the shark for looking realistic, making me very proud that I am succeeding in indoctrinating her to appreciate practical FX.

a man singing farewell and adieu to spanish ladies Alt: A GIF of Quint from JAWS standing on the deck of the Orca singing "Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies..."

So last weekend I had the total pleasure of taking my 10yo daughter to see JAWS on the big screen for the 50th anniversary. And just. It'd been a long time since I watched it, and somehow I'd forgotten: It is a perfect, 10/10, no notes film. Just so magnificent. JAWS forever, man. 🦈🦈🦈🦈

Right? I liked the moments when it led to personal growth for Worf (expressing his love for her, etc), but in general I thought the relationship reflected a trend toward writing Jadzia as a Cool Girl who would put up with anything in her relationships with men because she's sooo cool, which... :(

This is just to say that this latest rewatch resulted in me upgrading my Letterboxd rating of HOT FROSTY from "3 stars and a heart" to "3.5 stars and a heart" and I regret nothing

OMG YES. He was the absolute worst in that one. That episode, among many others, is part of the reason I never liked Worf/Jadzia much because honestly, how am I not supposed to be offended by the idea that Dax, after all her lifetimes of experience, would choose to be with this person 🤦‍♀️

Ooh, I do enjoy Worf as a character (more so on TNG than DS9), but... they're not wrong 😬 dude gets away with SO much that he by all rights shouldn't have

My daughter and I are rewatching HOT FROSTY even though it's September, ask us anything (actually don't ask us, we have no answers)

I will say, I still really don’t care for the MCU, for many reasons… but at the same time… I’ve been uninformed for too long, I should really at least know where I stand on important cultural conversations like “do Captain America and Iron Man have chemistry” (*yes)

What's up 2016, your girl just finally caught up on the MCU after 15+ years of mostly* ignoring / refusing to engage with it. 🎉 Important fandom trash achievement unlocked: I can now, finally, have my very own MCU shipping opinions. Thicc Thanos be praised!

(*I did see Black Panther & BP2)

DS9 scene. Rom is a Ferengi hero who has a large bald head and giant ears and lobes that sort of connect to make a unibrow and a ribbed pine cone looking nose. He's wearing a jacket that looks like those lick and stick backsplash tiles you can get at Lowe's. He's pictured here standing in a corridor, talking to someone and holding/reading a PADD. Closed caption reads, "Workers of the world unite. You have nothing to lose but your chains."

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.
