Being at an international conference is kind of like leading a double life, rushing "home" to Zoom into lab meeting with the team. Anyways, we were nerding out about proteomics possibilities and mixotroph investment strategies today. #figaday 4.306/n #year4

Oh thanks so much! It took us a while to come up with that also, although knowing Amelie she probably had the idea simmering in her mind all along. And agreed, I'm constantly lifting plotting ideas from papers.

I took the TEM image of Mesodinium (then: Myrionecta!) on the left in 2008, as an undergraduate. Today, one of our grad students took the image on the right using UExM. I love the parallels in the composition--and how science has progressed! So much more information with much less time! #unicornjob🦄

I know late to the party and all but very excited to see this: support for the hypothesis that increased prey specificity correlates with more tightly integrated kleptoplasts – from @mixotrophe.bsky.social lab (wrong image associated with link)

The wetlab crew distracted themselves with crosswords while anxiously waiting out the e-power outage (lasted 20mins instead of the previous 10). Love this team. #figaday 4.303/n #year4

Idk what happened but half of #MeetCapone 's eyebrows have gone missing... Possibly a consequence of his super zoomies lately or, as he would like the world to know, the fact that absolutely no one has fed him ever since at least the self-domestication of cats but possibly the dawn of time.

Your Tax Day reminder that trickle-down economics is a cruel hoax designed to enrich the wealthy and corporations while draining money for the middle class and the poor.

Don't let billionaires fool you into thinking we shouldn't tax the rich.

As an opinion editor, I fact-checked my writers. As an opinion journalist, I was fact-checked.

While editors shouldn't interfere with writers' opinions, we are certainly used to pressure-testing arguments and counter-arguments.

Good opinion journalism *should* be well-reported AND well-argued.

Once upon a time I just admired nudis and sea slugs.

But it was not enough. Now apparently I'm creating an R package to celebrate their colour palettes? 😅

First up, my Sydney fave, Hypselodoris bennetti.
