Sandy zebras
.
I have to remind myself to slip before turning, not after
.
Slip was a tad thick, so I added water and Epsom salts to it after the first three
.
The fourth, bottom right, in danger of slumping
.
Heat gun to stiffen, should be ok

Funny how the camera distorts
.
The lugs look too big by half through the lens, but they're sized right
.
Waited too long to attach
.
Wrapped the bowl in plastic with a wet sponge, so with a little luck no untoward cracking at the joins

I just thought it would be hilarious if the paltry $300 from Janet could be multiplied many times over against her. She isn't the person for the times, or so it seems to me
Yes. Got it down to about 4lbs after trimming, but then added slip, so it's closer to 5 now
Janet Mills has been "ok" as governor in my book, but I think she could have done better on several fronts (not progressive enough for me, but then she didn't sign up to be fighting off Trump left and right). She's a little too long in the tooth to boot. Graham's got my vote in the Dem primary
Yes. I've canvassed for him as well. I initially had doubts (Jekyll/Hyde, sheep/wolf, John Fetterman?) But his addressing his personal issues head on, his owning his mistakes and growing from them--he's for real. Talking with him in person confirmed it. He's building more than a campaign, too
thanks, hope so! Think I'll add lugs, impress a wave roller over them to reference the wavy slip
Mainers: when Janet sends you $300, be sure to donate it to Graham
Feeling a mite peckish

Dinner plates from 5 lb/2.3 kg lumps of Amador (they'll weigh half that, when they come out of the wood kiln)
.
I use plaster bats when I throw flat forms
.
Just leave out overnight, the ware pops off without wiring

Same bowl, after turning
.
Decided to add slip to the exterior
.
The slip: just water vigorously mixed with trimmings of the same body, along with Epsom salts as a flocculent (for the puff)
.
You can see how sandy the clay is, in the light

It's already at 5 lbs and I'm not done trimming. After glazing, probably back to 5
I pulled a couple hundred one after another years ago, until I knew by heart what the clay could do. After that, it was all about making to fit the hand, with full intention but little conscious thought
A bowl thrown with 10 lbs/4.5 kg of Amador
.
It will be around 4 lbs/1.75 kg at bone after turning
.
I'll have to make one with twice the clay
.

Thanks! Kinda!
Good handle! I can't bring myself to pull off the mug, mainly because I like to add when the pot is still too soft for such vigorous treatment
As am I! Thanks
Too kind. The trick: don't cut through the wall with the wire. One has a couple facets where I patched the surface from the inside with slip, which only works if the hole is a mm diameter or less. Turning the foot is also troublesome, as the facets like to translate a wobble to the bottom. TMI?
Decided to make a few more faceted yunomi
.
Don't want them to be so precise they look like they were made by a machine but then not so loose as to be sloppy
.
Fine line, the in between
.
Probably glaze with gold shino or nuka

Eastern bluebirds, here in midcoast Maine
Platter trimmed
.
After firing, it will be the diameter of the finished one to the right
.
If a bit taller and plainer
.
Unless the kiln paints it
.
In which case it could be dramatic
.
Quiet pots have their own beauty though
.
Either way is ok

I needed to thicken the slip, gain a touch more control. The most interesting effects are right on the border between control and loss of. For me, anyway. Would have liked to do some loops
I think it's sometimes called Jack-by-the-Hedge? Somewhat related, a lot of Lambs Quarters grow in open areas around here. Treated as a weed, it's actually quite good. Don't know why it didn't catch on as a garden veg. Probably because it was US Depression food.
Can we send JD Vance on the next moon mission? Leave him there
.
I'm enjoying making with this very sandy body
.
I find faceting somewhat challenging
.
Not the doing, but after
.
Lengthy trimming needed so they're not too heavy
.

Wild garlic is like ramps here in the US. A spring rite, like fiddleheads
Memories of garlic mustard: when I lived in the Mid-Atlantic, I'd root it up in order to kill it whenever I went for a spring ramble. I'd take some to cook with, but it really was annoying to see carpets of it in the understory (it's an allelopathic invasivein the US). Don't see it here in Maine
Wife started making sourdough this year. She's made yogurt weekly for three. About half our veg is from the garden. Mushroom foraging an excuse for a walk and vice versa, spring to fall. (Ergothioneine an essential nutrient, mushrooms the only dietary source.) Still have a weakness for crisps tho! 😉
Decided to make a largish platter like the fired one on the right
.
Just a little deeper and fully slipped with porcelain
.
Maybe spray some helmer
.
Fire it upside down in the middle of the anagama
.

Don't disagree. Think I should have added some kaolin to the mix, just to thicken it up, so the line would have more definition, less splatter
