Hearing lists of possible disgruntled MPs is to be reminded all over again about some of periods of #NZPOL many may have wished to forget

Why an ordinary storm can have an extraordinary impact - a great explainer about the Wellington events by @cubaraglanguy.bsky.social www.rnz.co.nz/news/weather...
A storm every eight days needs a systemic response- I could not agree more - and hope people are ok here in NZ in the Wellington region after last night - www.rnz.co.nz/news/environ...
NB Stuart Smith National whip at the centre of NZ PM future debate has denied climate change for years & was lead whip who blocked the NZ climate minister from attending the world adaptation conference NZ was hosting last October - you couldn’t make this stuff up www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/science-o...
Just a shout out to ‘James’ from @tvnz.bsky.social who did a great job getting public messaging out tonight on TVNZ news
So please this coming #nzpol election is not just about the ‘cost of living ’ it’s about the cost of lives and inaction #climate
I fear this is a problem created by media publishers who want conflict or confrontation to drive clicks on their websites. Emotive language becomes part of reporting.
You’re right that it matters, and RNZ editors should play their part in avoiding inflammatory language.
It really matters that who ever is reporting on this very significant case (which also has far reaching implications for allies like NZ) is upfront and transparent and professional- we need news not imported propaganda - no matter how casual or an unintended the quick update
*quite the opposite- here is a fuller account. With context - a ‘civil and professional brief chat’ and being ‘escorted off a plane’ is not being dragged … www.smh.com.au/national/how...
surprised/concerned to hear the @rnzrss.bsky.social Australian correspondent this morning say an Australia war hero had been ‘dragged off a plane in front of his young children’ I can’t find any verification of that- quiet the opposite - moreover she provided no context eg he lost a defamation case
And again today ☹️ #Wellington
Just also thinking of everyone in the Wellington region today - this is really tough www.rnz.co.nz/news/weather...
Tui ( plus lawn mower) . 😊 #BetterThanTwitter
One of the ways news media often fail us is by giving us the microscopic rather than the telescopic view. Everything I mention in this essay is well-documented, but the dots are mostly not connected to make visible this death by a thousand cuts our country is undergoing.
Cyclone Vaianu 7:20am Update
The strongest winds are yet to come as Cyclone Vaianu approaches the country. Areas such as Auckland won't see their strongest winds until this afternoon, as the wind shifts southwesterly behind the cyclone.
It’s not a ‘granny flat’ #nzpol
And it’s not a hot trend it’s a problem
(And me dropping the phone 🙄) exciting though- they came last year for the first time, at first it was a tiny call so faint - now there are two
(And the noise of the creek)
Two NZ endemic Ruru /morepork calling to each other tonight in the bush, this isn’t Twitter it’s better 😉
this is a serious integrity issue for NZ
I feel like we’re become a political pantomime in NZ, where the current government is so foolish it thinks rushed Ministerial mergers are fine as they ‘avoid duplication’ of decisionmaking, while everyone who worries about corruption & environmental degradation are madly shouting ‘IT’S BEHIND YOU!’

Here’s NZ Parliamentary Environment Commissioner & ex- National minister trying to warn the NZ govt their idea of merging environment with urban spatial planning is a disaster for rural communities & environment - I could not agree more - disestablishing Environment is terrible youtu.be/OMv6-kZTuGs
Over Easter doing something for future generations, food producers, city environments & NZ biodiversity- write to your local MP no matter what party they belong to & tell them you want to retain a Ministry for the Environment to protect of NZ against backroom lobbying & stop this rushed bill
Really clear, and I sincerely hope that Labour commit to restoration of a separate Ministry of the Environment.
Sorry about the quality of audio but disestablishing the NZ Ministry for the Environment-to merge it under a mega ministry exposes our economy land use & resources to lobbying & capture, trading away democratic scrutiny in a rushed decision-we also need NZ opposition’s clear commitment to stop this
