OK, there are lots of reasons to dislike RFK, but I've worked with plenty of zoologists who would consider this to be perfectly normal behaviour.
New paper! I was very happy to be part of this study led by Pablo Rozier-Delgado using accelerometers to explore endurance in mammals. Now published in the Journal of Experimental Biology's special issue on the integrative biology of exercise 🧪🌍
I recently asked my research group for collective feedback, after seeing this blog post. I was a bit nervous about it! But it was really good and helpful.
I gave them a starter set of questions. They met without me & then shared their collective thoughts.

That would be up to the journal… I personally was first invited to join a board as a fairly late-stage postdoc but I’d imagine experience and expertise are more important than career stage
Obviously did not learn anything from Canada: complete collapse of northern cod in 1992, billions in compensation, major job losses, cod stock still have not recovered. Weirdly, it is never presented as a cost of not using ecology to drive policy. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Not sure I'd have persevered with PhD applications without Athol's insistence that I was good enough, so I owe him a lot. Mentorship can come from unexpected places! Value your elders - and don't underestimate the effect a little encouragement has on those coming behind you.
