Hey, you might have seen me posting about a game called Psychomortis that I'm developing. I'm planning to host a 1v1 PvP scenario next week! The reward for winning is against the current champion is $20.
Details are here;

Necromancy rules have been written retroactively for PSYCHOMORTIS ALPHA VISION. Use them or don't, they are part of the game regardless of if you know

In retrospect it makes perfect sense that nerds have always been the bullied ones. They fucking suck
I've been hard at work writing and designing the GV copy of Psychomortis. So now's the perfect time to release the original.
I put it up on itch, alongside the release of @gocorral.bsky.social's new podcast episode featuring me!

Hey, I forgot I could post this here! A group of friends and myself did a little project; a tabletop game where each mechanic was designed in isolation, to be put together later. Check it out!

I am legitimately more excited to play my friend's 2 page generic fantasy ruleset than I ever have been to play literally any edition of D&D

"I'm so glad you're all here!" shouts the madman in the empty room
Lots of modern sequels to old beloved classics have also attempted this same idea-- but I feel like NG4 is the only one to actually pull it off properly, in such that it feels respectful and like it actually believes what it's selling. It feels genuine and earnest compared to its peers
There's a lot of effort put into making Ryu feel more powerful than Yakumo by several factors, and I think that's intentional. I feel the goal was to create this idea that Yakumo is part of the "new generation" that must train become LIKE Ryu, emulating him aspirationally. Ragebound also does this.
Especially with how NG4 kind of mythologizes Ryu, turning his presentation into this terrifying force of nature that educates and guards the gates to final success, who must be defeated in some way before you can become a "true hero". It feels like somebody writing about a scary but cool dad
There's this general feeling of "aspiration" when it comes to these new characters, and I think that this is a reflection of the general public's perspective of these characters. "They're old and dads now" type thinking. This leads to the audience feeling like they have to move on from them, I think
Just beat #NinjaGaiden4 today. It was kind of weird and bad, and doesn't really appeal to me like the first two did. I'm noticing a weird trend in games where new protagonists are made and written to "carry the torch". Since the old characters are ones that the new game writers grew up with--
Feeling a little better today. I'm still trying to relax but I think I can feel some of my excitement for my project come back.
Anyways, look at this little doodle
