It probably depends on the story and your writing style and just overall context, but personally I prefer to have short chapters with the POV's name at the top of each new chapter. Especially in the second book in my series, there are some chapters under 500 words because of context.
Man, I fuckin love space
MOON
Space stuff is so neat 🚀🌙💕
Artemis II will also perform large numbers of science experiments en route to the moon. Among other things, scientists hope to conclusively prove one way or the other whether the moon is haunted

Hello, #WriteSky ! Here's your reminder that #LateNightWrite starts in (almost) one hour! It's gonna be a more freeform chat just to ease back into things, no tough questions, just a check-in :)
Hi, folks! Which writing chats are people currently recommending? I'm curious about general writing and genre specific chats. Thank you! 💙📚📘 #writingcommunity #writing #amwriting
The cover for Courteney Levet's Death of a Timeline, the first book in her Dythoids series. The background is filled with embers, the title font is crumbling, and teal beetles are crawling all over the text and background.
The background is a street drain with plants growing up out of it. There are three scraps of paper taped together, and three drawings: peaches, a meal in a pot, and a pickup truck. On the largest scrap of paper, there is a note that reads "Whole world’s a wreck. Blown up, picked apart. Most of it is pretty boring and ugly. Most of it. Way I see it, it isn’t so much about the space itself as much as the what—or who—is occupying the space. Where we are now isn’t so bad in my eyes." In bolder font "Dythoids: Death of a Timeline".
Apocalyptic, post-apocalyptic, & dystopian stories often hold up a mirror to the dark corners of the world around us. But that doesn't mean they, like our world, can't also have moments of peace & connectedness.
How do you find a balance in your day-to-day?
#Booksky #specfic #indiebook #SFF #scifi
The background is a desert with two large archery arrows sculptures. The focus of the graphic is a note that reads: "How are we supposed to survive out here? How am I [underlined] supposed to survive out here? People go through months [underlined] of training before they’re allowed to leave the compound. I can count on two hands [previous two underlined] the number of times I’ve left the silos, let alone the fences of the compound!" In a bolder font, "Dythoids: Death of a Timeline". There are two doodles on the note: barbed wire at the top, and a cactus and tumbleweed on the bottom left.
Fear of the future, the unknown. Worse, fear of the known. Fear of a world where harshness is the standard, where one wrong move could leave you scarred from an attack by acid-spitting beetles.
It takes luck, knowledge, & a strong will to venture out & survive...
Would you do it?
#booksky #scifi
The background has a map of the United States. The foreground is a note that reads "The fight for this town took a lot out of us, so we agreed to stay here for a few days to restock, recover, and [the word trails off] burn the dead." In a bolder font it says "Dythoids: Death of a Timeline". There are two drawings on the note: a whole tomato next to a half of one, and in the opposite corner of the note is a violin. There are what appear to be tear stains on the paper.
What is the source of hope? Is it in joy, in community, in acts of creation? Perhaps, instead, it is at the heart of further conflict. That hope of success, of victory, no matter the cost. Is it worth it? What would you do? Where does your moral 🧭 lead?
💙📚 #indieauthor #scifi #apocalyptic #Dythoids
A piece of paper torn from a notebook was left in the room of a long-ruined building. The paper is stained in several places. The note says, "Remember: Stand tall against the bruises. Speak calm against the storm. Fight for that smallest chance in hell. Survive. Against all odds, survive. -Dythoids: Death of a Timeline". There are several drawings: a pile of arrows (unlabeled), a set of gears (unlabeled), a knife (labeled "check rooms before entering"), a mechanical dragon (labeled "we need help"), and a beetle spitting acid (labeled "RUN!!")
If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic vibes, dragons, or beetles, I might have just the story for you! Environmental mismanagement & global conflict mean the future of humanity doesn't look great, but there is hope. The Last of Us x Horizon Zero Dawn.

Oh the pressure of choosing the right POV when there are two MC’s.
Happy New Year!🎊 Here's hoping for a kinder 2026 for all the folks that had a rough 2025, especially. 💕
I didn't progress beyond the first round of BBNYA this year, but I'm excited by reactions from the panelists!

Animals. Strangers' dogs and my little menace of a cat, Amberle, who is super cuddly this time of year with the cold.

I'm more or less holding up okay. It's a weird holiday season and the weather's been crummy, but at least there are good stories out there to discover and enjoy.🙂

Hi hello! It's been a minute since I've made it to one of these. I'm Courteney, author of Death of a Timeline. That being the first, I'm currently working on the second book in the Dythoids series. I honestly haven't made much writing progress since April, but hopefully more soon.

I suppose I should come up with some book promo for holiday purchasing. My head has just not been in it lately.😅
Alright. Today is my birthday (and tbh it has sucked so far). But. I promised a thread of books by friends. And I am going to make good on that.
Please consider buying books from friends today. Thread below. Storefronts may vary. I'm just linking where I know the books are.
Hi folks! I want to get back into a book/writing headspace after having to set that aside for a few months.
-Any new notable chats or # people have been following?
-I've had questions about alt purchase methods. Where are folks looking beyond amazon currently?
-Tips for insta/tiktok videos?
