"Despite their physical differences, when they started to sing
along to the song Abby and Ernie played, it sounded like their voices were created to complement each other, harmonizing like wind and water shaping the sands of a beach." #Dythoids : Death of a Timeline

"The truth was, her focus now on the ornate white office building down the street was to distract her from the most recent drawing in the back of her book. Three faces. Living, in the drawing. Scared. Her fault. *Her fault.*" #Dythoids Book 2
Goal achieved. 1,005 words written toward #Dythoids Book 2, finishing off the chapter I had partially written.⚙️🐲🐞⌛

Dreams are important in Book 1 of the #Dythoids series (Death of a Timeline) as they help me portray where one of the characters is at mentally. Moving forward now into Book 2, dreams are increasingly important. They are one of my favorite elements of the series FOR REASONS.👀🤫
My goal is to write 1k+ words toward one of my two WIPs by the end of the weekend. We'll see if it's #Dythoids Book 2 or the tallship solo novel. Writing has been a struggle lately, but I think I can manage to write that much over the next few days.💙📚
Teal confetti filled background. There is a dark red box decorated with gears in the corners and behind text that reads "Birthday Weekend" in a two-tone teal font. To the right of that there is the cover for Courteney Levet's book, Death of a Timeline.
It's my birthday this weekend! If you want to help me celebrate, I'd really appreciate book sales or reviews ('zon, goodreads, storygraph).🥳📖🎁
In the future I'd like to do giveaways for my bday & various celebrations. Any ideas? General or specific to my stories. 💙📚 #Dythoids

The background is a dimly lit cave with rails to keep people from falling over a ledge. There are two notes on torn paper. The first says "Leave if there are more than you can fight on your own." The second note says "Cross my heart, I will run away if I have to, but only [underlined] as a last resort. Make sure no one follows me." In a bolder font "Dythoids: Death of a Timeline". There are also three drawing on the second note: a farm windmill, a crescent moon, and a head of garlic surrounded by three cloves.
It takes a degree of stubbornness to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, but at what point does stubbornness itself become a hurdle to survival?

The background has a map of the United States. The foreground is a note that reads "The fight for this town took a lot out of us, so we agreed to stay here for a few days to restock, recover, and [the word trails off] burn the dead." In a bolder font it says "Dythoids: Death of a Timeline". There are two drawings on the note: a whole tomato next to a half of one, and in the opposite corner of the note is a violin. There are what appear to be tear stains on the paper.
What is the source of hope? Is it in joy, in community, in acts of creation? Perhaps, instead, it is at the heart of further conflict. That hope of success, of victory, no matter the cost. Is it worth it? What would you do? Where does your moral 🧭 lead?

Back in the other place, I did a player choice story utilizing polls. It was a story set in the world of my #Dythoids series with some of the same dangers. Without polls here, I'm trying to run something similar on my website:

Spending some time today virtually walking around Point Pleasant because gosh dangit I said I was going to find a way to put the Mothman statue in this book and I did. #Dythoids #Booksky 💙📚✍️
Death of a Timeline is the first book in the post-apocalyptic speculative fiction series, #Dythoids. The series is geared more toward an upper YA/New Adult audience due to violence, scary sequences, and language. You can find it here:

Book 2 of the #Dythoids series takes what happens in Death of a Timeline & runs with it. B/c I look at stories through multiple lenses, & in order to tell the story I want to tell, there is a shift in the POVs through the series, with familiar faces.
Book 1 is here:

A bit late this evening, but ah well. I'm Courteney & I'm currently working on the 2nd book in my speculative fiction #Dythoids trilogy. Giant acid-spitting beetles, interdimensional metal dragons & a battle for the fate of humanity in a post-apocalyptic world.
A good writing week.

Hi hello! I'm Courteney and I write speculative fiction that falls most fully under post-apocalyptic and dystopian.
"...Fear the fearing. Fire sparks and burns in mistruths, in outright lies, in machinations. Fear the fearing for falsehoods and farces. Fight, fight..." - #Dythoids Book 2
I love when pieces fall into place while researching and writing. I can't wait for readers to find this silly reference that, as it turns out, makes a lot of sense in the context of the story. I'm sitting here laughing that I might actually pull this off.😂🛶💙📚

The graphic has decorative elements, such as a white garland incorporating teal beetles at the top, a snowy tree line at the bottom, and twinkle stars scattered across the black background. The focus of the image is the text "Book 2 Milestone Update". There is also a drawing of a teal and purple scarab beetle sitting atop two brass gears and a golden disk. The text at the bottom of this drawing reads "The Dythoids Series".
Another 10k words, another update! I've officially hit 20k words in Draft 1 of the second #Dythoids book, and I should be meeting up with the Discovery Draft in the next few chapters. Will that speed up or slow down the process? Unclear. But I'm sticking to my mid-April goal for alpha readers.
⚙️🐲🐞⌛📖
As I approach the next milestone update for Book 2 of my series, what kind of non-spoilery information would you all like to hear more about? Even if it doesn't end up in this update, it might end up in future posts as I continue to hit various wordcount goals.

Hello! I'm Courteney. I'm a writer of primarily post-apocalyptic spec fic. I'm currently writing the 2nd book in my #Dythoids series about interdimensional metal dragons & acid-spitting beetles the size of cars. The fate of humanity hangs in the balance, but can the timeline be saved?⚙️🐲🐞⌛

Hi hello! I'm Courteney. Writer, artist, overall being of creative chaos and puns. I'm currently writing the second book in my post-apocalyptic spec fic series, #Dythoids. I was feeling under the weather earlier in the week, so not much progress, but hopefully some tonight.

Hi hello! I'm Courteney & my current writing focus is post-apocalyptic speculative fiction, specifically the 2nd book in my #Dythoids series. Giant beetles & metal dragons mixed with my personal brand of chaos.
Wildest food opinion? Peanut butter & sweet pickle sandwiches are good.
Working on #Dythoids Book 2, looking forward to the reactions to some of the stuff here and in Book 3.😇 I'm sure there will be completely calm lower case messages from friends about certain twists, reveals, and happenings...

Hi hello! I'm Courteney and my main focus is on post-apocalyptic stories, although I'd love to someday write something with tall ships (in space?👀💰🪐🏴☠️).
It's been a slower writing week, but I've made some progress on the second book in my #Dythoids series. Researching & writing.⚙️🐲⏳🐞

When I posted on Facebook about hitting 5k words in the 2nd book of my #Dythoids series, people were interested in milestone updates. So, 2 days later, here I am to tell you I've hit 10k words!
Despite being an early draft, I'm focusing a lot on the worldbuilding, along with character dynamics.🐲⚙️🐞⌛
After reading over notes and considering elements of the discovery draft of #Dythoids Book 2, I decided to try a different approach for the beginning and so have started Draft 1 with complete rewrites. Cut some characters, changed the setting, etc. Good news? I hit 5k words today.
Gotta love the reaction when I tell people that some of the dreams I had that inspired book 2 of my series happened when I was listening to creepypastas to fall asleep.😂 Y'all should not be concerned in the slightest that I have had some vivid and unsettling dreams. Have no fear.☺️

One month ago I released my debut novel, Death of a Timeline, in ebook & paperback. In that time, I have experienced so much support, encouragement, & positive feedback. Thank you so much! I look forward to continuing the #Dythoids series with book two.💖🐲⚙️🐞⌛️

Early readers of Death of a Timeline shared this line that stood out to them from the post-apocalyptic spec fic story.

Graphic including a quote from Dythoids: Death of a Timeline. "The music helps us realize we still have hope, that despite however dark things get out there, we know we're still human by the way the music stirs our souls. It keeps us fighting the evil outside by defending us against our own demons."
The graphic has gears and the cover of the book Death of a Timeline by Courteney Levet. The text on the image reads: Preorder now / A compound in chaos / A tattered Earth / Humanity on the brink of extinction / Giant acid-spitting beetles / Interdimensional metal dragons / Colorful, dynamic storytelling / A realistic cast of characters / Saving the timeline won't be easy, and it certainly won't come without a cost
While writing, revising, & publishing my book, I constantly have music playing in the background.⚙️🐲🐞⏳ Why? Because music enriches & helps add context to our lives--& the creative process.🎶 It can offer comfort & joy & strength, which might be why this line stood out to early readers:
