Mayor Mamdani and a group of children hold hands while running through red tape in a hallway.
For too long, bureaucracy kept 7 child care centers across our city empty — spaces that should have been alive with laughter instead collected dust.
We've run through that red tape. This fall, all 7 will open their doors, bringing an additional 240 free 3-K seats & real relief to working families.

You have people who were born in NYC or grew up here (like me) being called transplants just because we don't fall into that vague old NY stereotype.
The good news is that the people using that term are bound to lose politically. Their side can't grow, only shrink.

It's just identity politics where the identity is some vague idealized version of old NY. Transplants are just everyone who doesn't match that old idea.
But the idea is so vague that it just ends up meaning "anyone who wants to change anything, regardless of what it is or if it is good".

Thrilled to report that Queens CB6 voted unanimously to pass our resolution for a district-wide slow zone reducing the speed limit to 20mph - 15mph in school zones - on all qualifying streets under #SammysLaw.

A member of an offshoot of the Jewish Defense League — designated by the FBI as a "known violent extremist organization" — was allegedly building explosive devices to target the home of Nerdeen Kiswani in a chilling act of political violence. The defendant reportedly planned to flee to Israel following the attack.
This comes amid an alarming rise in threats and violence across the country targeting Palestinian human rights advocates.
I am thankful that the NYPD and FBI thwarted this plot, which could have endangered Nerdeen’s life and those of other New Yorkers.
Let me be clear: We will not tolerate violent extremism in our city. No one should face violence for their political beliefs or their advocacy. I am relieved that Nerdeen is safe.
Our city must meet hate with solidarity, and meet fear with an unshakable commitment to justice and to one another.

Oh, is that the Woodhaven Blvd capital project? When they came to CB6 to present it, there was nothing new. Just updating the bus stops.
Not even a bike lane, which is insane that we're making capital projects on major roadways in 2026 without bike lanes.

An ICE agent inside an airport, leaning against a pole and fucking around on his phone. He's next to a window, which looks out at a huge line of people waiting to even get inside the terminal to stand in a security line.

This is why the chairman of the MTA board needs to be elected by the board and not picked by the governor.
This is embarrassing.

It's not just them. I knew a Syrian woman in college who wore a headscarf every day. One day I asked her about it and she told me that she wears it more for modesty and culturally than anything else.
She even took it off right there and said "see? Not a big deal".
It's not a monolith.

Today we observed six shackled detainees being loaded onto the ICE Air flight at MSP. They're heading to El Paso, where conditions are so horrific, staff gamble on who the next prisoner to commit suicide will be.
The man walking from right to left at the beginning of the clip is dragging shackles.

Ppl get mad at me when I say this but I will keep saying it: in the long run, right wing Dems are more dangerous than Republicans. Because they make it way harder for us to show that good government is possible, which makes it easier for Republicans to win.

Idk what happens then. I read somewhere that revolutions don't happen when people's QoL is low; otherwise, we would have revolutions all over the place. It is when they feel their QoL is increasing, and then it stops or decreases.

The American political system, since WW2, has worked under the assumption that QoL can only increase. This is why they opposed anything that would imply you had to decrease your QoL (eg, Env stuff).
Now they're just coming out and saying, "lower your QoL." Except it isn't even for a noble goal.
