We were promised less work.

What actually matters?

The authors suggest that greater cognitive flexibility among high-IQ men might make them less inclined to hold rigid traditional views, but overall, high intelligence didn’t translate into fundamentally different political profiles for most measures.

In other words, gifted men were less likely than average-IQ men to endorse those specific conservative norms.

However, the study found a gender-specific pattern in social conservatism: among men, those who were not identified as gifted scored higher on traditional conservative values — such as valuing tradition and social stability - than men who had been gifted.

Study followed people identified as “gifted” (highly intelligent) in childhood for over 35 years. Participants now about 43 years old completed surveys about their political orientations. Both gifted & non-gifted adults tended to self-identify near the center on a basic left-to-right political scale

New research published in the journal Intelligence found that high-IQ adults are generally just as moderate in their political views as those with average intelligence - with one specific exception.
