Derbyshire Wildlife Trust launches White Stork project A new conservation project aims to release White Storks in Derbyshire, with a purpose-built breeding enclosure planned at Willington Wetlands.

An ambitious White Stork project has been announced by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust:

This simply isn’t the way to do rewilding; nor is it going to win people over.

A model that seeks to acquire landholdings so quickly is clearly going to make mistakes in community engagement & in land management, and I’ve seen solid evidence of both by these guys.

The tree mix. Pedants will notice that I missed Guelder rose off the list. There were 30 of those per plot too. Impressed with my Latin? The trees are labeled in Latin by the supplier so it helps us ID which stick is which at this time of the year!
