I'm thrilled to me amongst the Springboard Awardees this year, to receive this funding during a pivot point in my career.
With this I'm pleased to advertise a fully funded PhD opportunity

For all of their criticisms, if this UK government were to rejoin the EU and align this country with that of the rest or Europe then this will - in my eyes - be a successful government and I'd vote for them to remain in power in the next election (I'll be a citizen a UK by then 😁)

And that's with a North America academic salary. Over in the UK we make a lot less 😅
When you put it like that, and combine it with all the free work we do for journals that make them rich and we are all suckers 🤣😅
Dangerous rhetoric
I think I'm pretty much the immediate type. The odd email slips though. However, I'm attempting to learn this thing supposedly called 'work life balance' but I'm not sure it's actually real. Stay tuned.
Northern universities are missing out on major funding to help attract leading researchers into the UK
Good news, EU students!

In May 2025, the government published a white paper called “Restoring control over the immigration system”. It proposed making it more difficult for migrants to qualify for permanent residence (also known as settlement, indefinite leave to remain or ILR).

Ipsilateral motor cortex contributes to force production. This is a topic I have been passionate about since it was the primary focus of my PhD. This is a cool study that supports it's active role in force production during unimanual tasks!
Nice work authors!

The North East neglect in this country is unbelievable. This is a truly amazing place with world class people. The neglect from the government regardless of party really needs to be addressed.

Which universities I wonder. I can venture a guess it's the big two... which is far from the reality the rest of the industry is facing.
This alarming statistic begs the question, is it still reasonable to base academic promotions criteria on external funding success?
Yeah... because the likes of Oxford and Cambridge and other top flight universities across the UK really needed this relative to the rest of the academic sector in the UK. This is such a shame.
