My paper on disease has been accepted at Philosophy of Medicine!
I argue that diseases form homeostatic property clusters: their underlying pathomechanisms cause clustering in their symptomatology, biological signature, response to treatments, and prognosis

thanks, I hadn't seen this book yet! I have lots of thoughts on this actually, let's chat one day :) (short answer, I don't think it is a counter-example per se, but I think it's real interesting nonetheless)
Free in August and looking for a way to do even more philosophy? 🤔 Juliette Vazard and I are organising a workshop on Climate, Emotion and Mental Health - deadline 4th of July! ✍️
Israel kills innocent Palestinians. Activists spray-paint a plane. Guess which the UK government calls terrorism | Sally Rooney
Ah that might be tricky with the time difference, but in principle we are open to online presentations!
Check out this call for abstracts for a mid august workshop in Cambridge. The questions Harriet and Juliette are posing are so interesting and unusual #philsky #climate #mentalhealth #emotion

One year ago we started a small online reading group on functions and now we have our first workshop on biological functions! Proud of the growing functions in philosophy network 💙 thanks to best co-organiser @harrif.bsky.social and @assemblinglife.bsky.social @leverhulme.ac.uk #philsky
This week we are hosting a workshop on Biological functions organised by @frabellazzi.bsky.social and @harrif.bsky.social. Check out the program and get in touch if you want to attend remotely 🦋

Check out this paper that I completely agree with: @marcartiga.bsky.social, @peterschulte.bsky.social & Nir Fresco argue against @harrif.bsky.social and Justin Garson's thesis that proper functions must be proximal functions.

any bets on which will be which?
Can you believe we once lived alongside at least four other species of humans? I'm writing a whole book about it and still find it bewildering.
Still time to submit an abstract for the Philosophy of Medicine Roundtable! 👇
