Dear network, I’m pleased to announce the launch of hashtag#DeZi (Dengue and Zika Immunology and Genomics Multi-Country Network) – a global collaboration that I’m part of, bringing together leading teams across Africa, Asia, and the Americas to advance our understanding of dengue and Zika viruses.

🔬 DeZi in brief:

DeZi is a global initiative led by Imperial College London and Nuno R. Faria and supported by the Wellcome Trust, Temasek Foundation and the National Environment Agency.

It integrates genomics, serology, and modelling to map the burden, transmission, and evolution of dengue and Zika viruses.

By combining innovation with equitable partnerships, DeZi aims to:
• accelerate the adoption of improved diagnostics
• strengthen regional laboratory capacity and South–South collaborations
• enhance preparedness for future arboviral epidemics in a changing climate

With its open-access resources and policy engagement activities DeZi will help countries integrate the surveillance of dengue, Zika, and other mosquito-borne viruses into routine national health systems, turning collaboration into capacity, and data into effective policymaking.

🌍 Partners span research institutions and public-health laboratories in more than 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, working closely with UKHSA, Yale University, WHO, and networks such as UNITEDengue, CREID, and ARTIC2.0.

You won't see it on the NASA website because it's not being updated due to the shutdown (thanks), but my dengue-risk prediction project has been selected from among nearly 10,000 project as a Global Nominee!

It uses NASA satellites mixed with dengue records to predict outbreaks before they happen.
