I used a bike rack this weekend that exists because I complained about it not existing.
You can make things better, even just a little.

Sadly, this sort of lack of communication is pretty typical of how CPD "handles" hit and run investigations. Yes, it can be difficult to ID the driver (just IDing the vehicle is not good enough for a criminal conviction), but families deserve empathy, understanding and information.

@oofd.org Hootenanny fundraiser is TOMORROW at Midwest Coast brewing 2137 W. Walnut st. Tickets still available. At great party & a great local Chicago biking organization.
We must do much, much better in the way we design space for people to travel in, whether by foot, bike or motor vehicle.
Bikes make life better and save you money! We know because we built a site that will calculate just how much, and it's often tens of thousands of dollars
It's good to see bike share use increasing in Chicago. I wish Divvy was much cheaper to use though. Free would be even better. Perhaps then we'd really see biking for transportation rocket forward.
This, but chasing motorists out of the bike lane.

I love how some people are like "biking doesn't specifically work for me so fuck your advocacy and fuck using our tax dollars to fund its infrastructure".
A bridge with a stone surface on its side is surrounded by construction fencing.
The wrapping is off this bridge on Montrose Avenue near Montrose Harbor. It’s been under reconstruction for a long time. A worker told me it should be complete by summer.
Commuters won't consider using a bike for transport if it isn't safe. Build protected bike infrastructure, slow drivers down, remove street parking; make it safe and bike commuters will appear. Paris is an example to the world how political will has achieved a modal shift. #EndCarDependency
Very cool!
The average cost of owning and operating a new car in the U.S. is approximately $11,577 annually, or $965 per month, according to 2025 AAA data.
Happy Friday!
Now is a great time to start biking for transportation. Spring is here and gas is crazy expensive. Relax and ride a bike.

“The effort to quiet Paris complements the wider campaign to make Paris greener, cleaner & less car-dependent, which include vehicle restrictions in the center, crackdowns on polluting vehicles, & an ambitious expansion of bike networks. Those have cut the city’s average noise level by 2 decibels.”
Yes! Are you paying attention @chicagocta.bsky.social?
7am commute via Milwaukee Ave: counted 18 other people biking before I got distracted and lost track. Good to see lots of people out on a drizzly but warm morning! #bikechi

We can do do things differently, we just have to want to.
Ha! So true.
The U.S. continues to fall way behind when comes to making our cities more friendly to active transportation.
Evaluating e-bikes on top speed and performance is a purely motonormative mindset. When people constantly ask "how fast does it go?", it blurs the line between a utility tool and an e-moto, fueling the false narrative that practical bicycles are dangerous.
We're so excited to have been featured on the Notes from Chicago podcast - we talk about how the project got started, some of our favorite places to ride, and more!
Inspired by André Gorz, 1973: "...the car wastes more time than it saves and creates more distance than it overcomes. Of course, you can get yourself to work doing 60 mph, but that’s because you live 30 miles from your job and are willing to give half an hour to the last 6 miles."
