I'll remember the vividness of the characters, developed over a long period with director Emma Rosa Went, played by actors far older than the kids they play. Greg Cuellar has a great chaos onstage, depicting an appetite for pain that we see is dangerously attractive, to adults as well as kids (4/5)

Six years ago, I found my creative family at a workshop led by the Wents. Since then, we've developed characters that mirror our Millennial experiences, marking each reading as a spiritual and artistic milestone. This fall, we're excited to present our work, Initiative, at The Public Theater.

Post from @obiwormkenobi:

everyone: why do you always have to make everything GAY

me: *points to this quote from The Celluloid Closet (1995)*

"All the reading I was given to do in school was always heterosexual, every movie I saw was heterosexual, and I had to do this translation. I had to translate it to my life rather than seeing my life.
Which is why when people say to me, "Your work is not really gay work, it's universal." And I say, "Up yours. It's gay. And that you can take it, and translate it to your own life is very nice, but, at last, I don't have to do the translating. You do.""

If you’re queer and an artist, every piece of art you make is queer and that’s a fucking fact.

After I saw The Humans on Broadway, I wept on the A all the way up to Washington Heights. Somewhere along the way, a lesbian couple sat next to me, gave me a dove chocolate, and listen to me weep about how hard it was to lose my brother and father. They gave me hugs and another chocolate at my stop.

Theater review: Guthrie’s ‘Mousetrap’ is enjoyably faithful to Agatha Christie The fun comes not from relentless action but instead from watching these curious characters being brought to layered life.

The Pioneer Press called me a ‘flamboyant motormouth’ as Christopher Wren, which is the best compliment I've ever received. Read the full review: www.twincities.com/2025/03/21/t... #TheMousetrap #GuthrieTheater #TheaterReviews

In portraying Christopher Wren in The Mousetrap, I drew inspiration from the colorful wit and personal style of Noël Coward, Quentin Crisp, and, of course, Oscar Wilde. Thrilling, clashing patterns designed by Susan Tsu. Tailored and crafted at the #GuthrieTheater #TheMousetrap #CharacterStudy

One flight attendant recalled being told: “‘If a fire occurs in the cabin, if we land on water, don’t check on the immigrants. Just make sure that you and the guards and the people that work for the government get off.’”

America, you f**ked up!

She warned us. She had a plan that would have benefited everyday Americans. But too many ignored her—because it was never really about the economy.

Now folks are scared, struggling—and we’re cooked.

oh look it is possible to create a news cycle messaging opportunity and excite the electorate if you energetically try to (do absolutely anything differently whatsoever), who on Earth could have predicted it

The future is a web of branching paths, and each choice opens up new possibilities as it closes others. This is as true for a civilization as it is for an individual. The more our collective intelligence can inform each choice, the better our chances of finding paths through to a beautiful future.

Just discovered (in a 🍃wiki dive) that in 1919, the year that the Spanish Flu Pandemic officially ceased, was the same year that Hitler made his first speech for the German Workers’ Party. #wikipedia
