idk guys when i see a lot of similar headlines insisting that editors & authors are all already embracing AI, i don't assume these things are true. i assume there are a lot of very rich people with an unpopular product pushing a particular narrative in my industry!

Isses, sehr schrecklich.

I need some recommendations for the best Arthurian novels - the original Malory (there must be a good modern English version?), retellings, re-imaginings, modern and old, including works that aren't quite retellings but take a lot of inspiration (like The Everlasting by @alixeharrow.bsky.social).

I didn't think I need Pokémon Pokopia BUT... I'm just watching someone playing it on twitch and ... IT'S CUTE and totally my thing. Why is it sooooo expensive 😭

My problem with journaling is, that I want to structure it... which makes me struggle to do it generally.. I really need to get over it and just use my pile of notebooks. Just write in them and not in a specific way...

A black-and-white urban scene of a woman in a patterned coat walking past a brick wall covered in detailed street art, including a large running wolf and human figures. The passer-by is slightly blurred in motion, contrasting with the sharp, textured mural behind them.

Reykjavík weather update.

The average precipitation in January for the city is 75 mm (rain/snow).

So far, we've had 0.5 mm this year. Next week's forecast shows zero precip., and one small chance thru the 26th.

Great for aurora hunting, terrible for the flora and fauna.

Writers write. It doesn’t matter what we’re doing, we’re writing. Doing dishes? Writing. Waiting in line at the DMV? Writing. Listening to our wives explain about a cute dragon plushie? Writing (but taking notes). I write so much in my mind before I ever even open my laptop.

- was it FUN TO MAKE
- is it MADE BY ME

Painting of a black cat with vacant yellow eyes sticking his right hind leg straight up in the air. There is an orange and yellow circle behind the cat and the background is purple. The artist's signature and @joyousjoyfuljoyness watermark is on the bottom right.

Painting number 6 in the Feline Flows and Poses Collection, "Excuse Me"! This void kitty just demanded to be painted!

This is the painting I've chosen as the cover art for my newest art book, Coffee Table Cats - Part Deux.
It's a rare one, in that I actually gave the cat pupils instead of ghost eyes.
The painting is titled 'Dreaming of You.'

I made it! Not that numbers are really important and my last book was a short story, but I read and I will continue to do so!

you don't suck at art. you're learning. you aren't an awful writer, you're still understanding how things work. You aren't horrible, you see the places in your work that have space for improvement. Even if you think your art isn't the best, you still created something and you should be proud of that

So, I got a Switch 2 and now I need someone nearby with an Animal Crossing cartridge that I can borrow for a week or so to visit "myself" and bring stuff (with a second user ofc) from my old island to the new one 😅

A pinhole camera photo taken from Summer to Winter Solstice. It's a bit blurry as the aperture was made with a tiny needle and no focus mechanism. There are yellow to green lines across the photo, that's the Sun moving across the sky over the course of a day. The top line is from the Summer Solstice, the bottom line from the Winter Solstice. Cloudy days don't have any lines or broken lines as the Sun was obscured by clouds. There are some trees on the left, right and in the background.

A pinhole camera photo, a 6 month exposure from Summer to Winter solstice. There are trees on the right side and background. A house with two cars in the drive are visible almost in the center of the photo. The lines are made from the Sun moving across the sky with the bottom line being the Winter Solstice and the top line the Summer solstice. On cloudy days the lines are broken or not visible as the sun was obscured by clouds. The lines show some reflections from a tree trunk. The lines are mostly a white color with some hints of blue, green and yellow in places. Some of the colors could be from rain or snow staining the paper I was using.

A solargram/pinhold camera photo taken from the Winter Solstice of 2024 (21 Dec) to Summer Solstice of 2025 (20 June).
It's a 6 month long exposure taken with a beer can pinhole camera, it shows the sun's movement across the sky during that time period, each day the Sun scribes a line on the paper in the pinhole camera. The bottom line is Dec 21 2024 and the top line is 20 June 2025.
This kind of photo makes the movement of the Sun during the day into visible trails on the paper in the camera.
There is a long orange-yellow arc going across the paper showing the whole 6 months. There is a shadow of my tree on the image, the tree blossomed during the exposure. Shades of blue and pink are on the paper too. There is a black kind of semi circle at the top of the image, that's where the water was disintegrating the top part of the paper.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Beer can, pinhole camera photos of the Summer to Winter Solstice (2024) and the Winter to Summer Solstice (2025).

You never know quite what you're going to get with these photos, set the beer can pointing towards the sun at hopefully the correct angle and wait 6 months!

This holiday season don't forget to eat your vegetables. And pie. And also read a book. Two out of three (healthy endeavors) ain't bad.

Today, the December solstice occurred at 15:03 UT. 🔭

Although the #solstice itself lasts only a moment, the term also refers to the day on which it occurs. It marks the shortest and longest day of the year respectively in the Northern & Southern Hemisphere. 🧪
