2-and-done, but that's very cool
Thank you!
It’s awesome! Thanks!
Happy anniversary!
Great work here by @suzannerent.bsky.social, digging up salaries paid to mayors, wardens, and councillors in Nova Scotia. Pretty eye-opening too.

Houston unbalanced the books with unwise tax and toll rollbacks, then used massive deficit to rationalize slashing crucial programs and public services

It’s okay to admit you were wrong to make better decisions for the province. I want services for the taxes I pay and am willing to pay taxes to get them.
Maybe cutting what helps make the province a decent place to live is not ideal?
Thank you 🙏 to the many who were protesting so that we can live in a better province
Would that be because the bridges are Mac Donald and Mac Kay ? Cool idea 💡. I wonder if we collected this money, that might discourage some people from using cars and lessen congestion. What could the government do with this money? (infrastructure, housing, basic income, arts?)
I agree completely
I assume one way that could be implemented would be like a payment on 2 of the access points, such as the bridges? We could call it a toll? Maybe have a pass system where you can pay less and go through more quickly if you pay ahead of time?
Incredible turnout at the rally in support of arts, culture, and community funding in front of the provincial legislature in Halifax, Nova Scotia
WATCH: If you STILL don’t understand how car-dependent suburbia is HEAVILY SUBSIDIZED by downtown and all the urban parts of your city, watch this EXCELLENT video by #NotJustBikes with #Urban3 & @strongtowns.bsky.social. And PLEASE SHARE it as much as possible.
I’ve sent it to a LOT of politicians.
Don’t cut funding for the arts! Great to see this!
Me too! Thanks to those who took the time to share their thoughts and perspectives.
2025/26 student transit pass Halifax
The student bus passes offer GR 7-12 kids independence and shapes their lifelong transportation habits. ❤️🚍
NS gov plans to withdraw financial support ($1.2M) for this program in the next fiscal year. You can contact the education minister & premier with your thoughts.
It could have been any one of his staff of 50?
Nancy Hunter's remarks today at Halifax's Budget Committee, 1/2
I only got what Terri posted, but it sounded great from that
Thank you Ben
Thanks for your presentation today
And thank you, Terri, for posting about it
I am very grateful to all those who have been making excellent presentations to council 👏
Trump’s propaganda czar Brendan Carr and Trump-controlled CBS refused to let Colbert air his interview with James Talarico. You can watch the interview here, and it already has 1.4M views. youtu.be/oiTJ7Pz_59A?...
A couple of my favourites from the Hip are:
"I had my hands in the river, my feet back up on the banks
Looked up to the Lord above and said, "Hey, man thanks"
Sometimes I feel so good, I gotta scream
She said, "Gordie baby, I know exactly what you mean"
and
"No dress rehearsal, this is our life"
This this this.
Reasonable infrastructure + transit = secret sauce that allows my family to live in the suburbs with one car instead of two.
Unless the tax hike is several hundred dollars a month, this isn't even worth discussing.
The quoted average increase (~$20) is a RIDICULOUS deal.
Tax me!
This is what kills me about all of this: property taxes aren't that big an expense for me at the end of the day and TBH I wouldn't even mind paying more if it meant we could live in a better city. But louder voices are happy to burn it all down just to save a buck
I started listening to CBC because of The Vinyl Cafe in the early 2000s. Saw two of his shows. His promotional of music and artists and his curiosity about the places he visited are two things I will remember about him.
