Thanks!

It started when my husband watched an Irish ghost-hunting show a few years ago. I'm kind of a skeptic, but it got me thinking: What if the "paranormal expert" of an investigative team was actually a ghost? And what if I set it in a purely fantasy world?

It was a really fun story to write!

It's a bit different than you're imagining ๐Ÿ˜…

The Fontayne Co is a group of paranormal investigators, and the story is set in a modern-ish fantasy world. The group is led by a necromancer, the MC is a ghost, and there's a dragon inventor who supplies their tech. I had a ton of fun writing it!

I'm so happy you asked!!

My story is the first meeting between Pablo and Daaros, two side characters from Wraith and the Revolution. It's basically a meet-cute told from an alien (Daaros') POV.

I have some character art from the related novel (drawn by JustMiss Art)

What words do you overuse in your writing?

It fluctuates, but there's always something caught in edits.

The most memorable was "venture" in my book, Guardian (it's only used a couple times in the finished book, but before revisions, it was used a lot ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Do readers like Dark Fantasy from the POV of a golem?

Created for obedience, can it discover its true purpose?

ARC signups are now available.

Nicknames

Zinn is a mercenary with a penchant for giving out nicknames. In Wraith and the Revolution, Kye gets a least a dozen from her, ranging from "Metal Man" to "Slaughter Bot" to "Le Chef" at one point. She rarely calls anyone by their real name.

Cover for Togther is a Distant Star, A sci-fi and fantasy anthology on Belonging

The cover shows two hands, each with half a star, as they reach toward each other to piece it together.

The background is many warm colors, orange and reds and purples, lovingly created by Coe (C.B. Lansdell), and has elements of skulls, a tree, clouds, a dragonfly, stars, and a pendant

Coming May 19th! A scifi/fantasy anthology featuring 11 authors from 6 continents (we were, unfortunately, unable to find either an Antarctic researcher or a penguin to join us)

Together is a Distant Star contains stories of "belonging" mostly by women, queer, and otherwise marginalized authors.

Free Friday/How do you choose your next read or WIP?

Next read is usually the ARC or book I've promised to read next (but I'm trying to fit in books I *want* to read more often)

Next WIP is based on whichever character is screaming at me the loudest at the time...๐Ÿ˜…

Preferred reading format

I bounce between ebook and paperback. I like ebooks for travel (I never run out of stuff to read that way)

I like the tactile feel of paperbacks, but I only buy those if I think my husband will also read them (I'm not usually a rereader)

How would your characters describe themselves?

Andrew, The Caein Legacy: his brothers' guardian

Owen, Serpentus: f****ng tired

Kye, Wraith & the Revolution: "I'm too stupid to be okay." (a direct quote, he does some dumb stuff sometimes and he knows it)

My most recent "release" was a short story that went out to my newsletter (but it will be available on retailers next week, so I hope that counts!)

The cover art is by CB Lansdell @cblansdell.bsky.social

Survivor is a prequel story to Wraith and the Revolution (and yes, there's more squid ๐Ÿ˜…)

The short story features a scene that wasn't in the novel, although that scene was mentioned (the novel is written from a different POV...but I really love Daaros, and thought he deserved at least a little page time somewhere ๐Ÿ˜…)
