I was tempted about 2-3 years back as the content was good and the ads although annoying was bearable. But then some of my favourite YouTubers getting screwed for ad revenue all while the ads were getting progressively more intrusive. If they looked after creators more I would consider it again.

I refuse to do this, I believe it encourages enshittication as they are trying to force users by making the basic service so terrible they consider subbing.

Trouble I have with all this is that I use YouTube as my primary media source, I hardly watch TV anymore and YT has filled that gap and there seems to be little in the way of alternatives.

A lot of apps now are just containers for web browser based platforms anyway, even at work most of my development is on the cloud so I mostly it could be all done through a browser.

I have done a quick non-scientific look at YouTube completely logged out using tor browser mode on Brave, there is loads of these type of videos recommended when you have no history at all. One thing I have noticed is they all seem to be “hyped”, is there a coordinated effort by bots to do this?

What the fuck is going on with YouTube? I am getting bombarded with a piss stream of right-wing hate filled bigoted videos about migrant hotels etc. I don’t watch any videos like this, in fact I don’t watch political videos on YouTube at all!
