Huh. I guess leather is skin and you take care of it by oiling it.

Is that your hand? Can you just touch the earliest surviving intact European book? I feel like white gloves would be involved.

I think basically the answer is "they have a lot of nukes and an unhinged dictator" so no one wants to go head-to-head with them and are hoping the leader will die before the worst happens. Same reason not many are meaningfully standing up to the USA.

Is the asteroid belt a TRIANGLE?!

Not mentioned: it's DIY and self-repair enabled. All the fasteners are easy to get to and none of the components are software locked, so you can use it as a little EV drivetrain and mod it to smithereens. Sounds super fun. And it doesn't spy on you to the manufacturer.

ronaldjenkees HelloYoutubes! I make music because it's fun. I seriously appreciate you listening! www.ronaldjenkees.com ✉ ronaldjenkees@gmail.com

Some of the best upbeat instrumental #music to work to, or just chill and listen. Ronald Jenkees is a delightful virtuoso who shares his longform improvisational performances on YouTube, but also has 5 albums available on streaming. Brings a smile to my face every time.

Bunnies in a raft pull up next to a spaceship capsule, which has just splashed down and is floating in the open sea. Visible in the capsule, two bunnies wave at the ones in the boat.

To clarify, someone photoshopped the spaceship from a scary movie into one of the Artemis 2 photos.

I don't have cable or streaming either. I waste all my money on crafting supplies.

I'm not really poor (humble brag) but I still can't afford to spend $600 on a new computer.

I think the best way to experience Times Square is probably like this, from several blocks away. #NYC

Rockefeller Center has some cool #art and #architecture. Some of the most famous in #NYC. But I think my favorite bit is this mural above the front desk of Abraham Lincoln and some giants building a thing.

It's hard to get a proper sense of scale for these doors in a photo like this without reference. They are massive!

I just researched these online under the terms Trulla or Patera. I found several examples of this style but none had information on manufacture. This one is bronze, which makes me think it was cast. They may have used a lathe to turn the forms to make the mold, giving a machined appearance?

Fascinating. How was it made? It almost looks like it could have been stamped out of sheet metal in the 1940s.

How does this door work structurally? No arch, no lintel! That central block looks like it wants to just drop out but it's been hanging in there longer than my entire country has existed.

This is the Ludovisi sarcophagus (mid-3rd AD). It absolutely writhes, hums and bursts with energy and movement. It reminds me of Tacitus’ famous phrase about the Romans: “they create a wasteland & call it peace.”

What an amazing piece of sculpture. I had never heard of it and now it's one of my favorites of all time.

The laws they're not complying with are only from a couple of states so far. I don't think Wyoming and Brazil have the chops to police an international open source project yet.

This is wonderful news. If true, Facebook will be out of business shortly.

True but unlike massive centralized power plants, that surface area can be distributed in small bits in dual-use scenarios. Rooftops and parking lots could provide most of that room, and it would make the parking lots nicer by sheltering the cars.

My broken waffle maker taught a master class in analog design - informal When I took my waffle maker apart, what I found inside was a reminder of something we've largely forgotten in the age of microcontrollers.

I want to slow down a bit and #design some #analog stuff. All these components are cheap and available. You can understand how it works with a 1-page sketch, no code required.
