Really loving ‘Half of Me’ by Shae, a really nice song I like to relax to, with beautiful vocals to boot!

Right, I know what I’m going to be binging this weekend! 👀
There’s nothing quite like realising you’ve vastly overestimated your piece is for group feedback! I’ve got two days to basically double this section in content and… this will be a monumental task. Hopefully I can share good news as the weekend goes on! 🤞 #WritingCommunity
Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.
“Some of us aren’t creative enough to brainstorm without ChatGPT!” Well then maybe you should sit this one out.
There are a few I said I would come back to when I was open to be either vulnerable or to suspend all belief and reasoning. #booksky #writingcommunity
And the third dragon is actually wearing a stolen dragon suit that’s powered by planet polluting, water guzzling machines that still can’t make it look like a real dragon no matter how many times it tells yeah, ‘I’m a real dragon now!’ And the first two dragons are just exhausted, fam.
I’ve come to discover that I’m in desperate need of a writing spot, ideally at home. Anyone have any tips for carving out a special space for writing? #WritingCommunity
Please and thank you. #writinglife #booksky #writingcommunity @sylviahubbard1.bsky.social and @lisasell.bsky.social thanks for the reminder.
Book promotion is what most writers think of when their book is ready to launch.
Author promotion is about building an audience that’s interested in your perspective, not just your latest release.
Insight from Orlando Ortega-Medina.
I certainly find this with some projects more than others. So far, I’m giving it some distance to hopefully come back more refreshed, but maybe it’s the nature of the work involved that’s making it seem to be such a monumental task? All we can do is hope to hit the plateau and to work until then!
Can’t wait to get cracking into my new reads, and to share them with the writers group back home!
We are delighted to reveal the #BookerPrize2025 longlist – 13 books ‘all alive with great characters and narrative surprises’.

That’s a darling no one should ever kill 👌
Not sure if it’s down to the change in scenery or the city itself, but Dublin is a fantastic place to get some writing done. Then again, with all the literary legends that have hailed from here, I suppose it’s hardly surprising. In any case, long live this productivity! #WritingCommunity 🖋️📚
Old book covers I made as studies and never posted here, I think.
Librarians pressured to remove books by LGBTQ+ writers. Librarians harrassed at work for putting LGBTQ+ stories on their shelves. This is the UK-not Hungary, not USA. It's here and now. What can you do? Invite LGBTQ+ writers to your schools and libraries.

The Librarians is a must-see documentary about the recent history of book banning in the US
If you love your library, listen up…
I finished my first short story recently and submitted it for a competition. I didn’t realise how different a skill it is compared to longer form writing, it was so tough! Definitely worth it though, really enjoyed the process even if nothing comes of it!
Now more than ever.
If you are able, please do support Indy bookshops.
The near monopoly of an online giant is skewering the industry.
Without Indies, we simply wouldn't be here.

Just a reminder. The library is free to use. Free to check out books and DVDs. Free to take your kid to Story Time. Free to ask a question. Free to sit quietly for a minute. Or an hour. #supportyourlocallibrary
I’m currently working on a short story, primarily to develop my voice as a writer, which is going quite well so far! But why, oh why, did I include a character that only speaks in limericks?! 😫
A cat came into our library today. This was the happiest day at work ever, it was worth my hands burning and itching for the next hour 😍
Just so we’re clear:
1. Audiobooks count
2. Reading is political
3. The orange man is a piece of 💩
Thanks for stopping by 💃
