My monthly update for March 2026 is out now! This month there's some new networking gear, lots of stuff about #KeyboardMaestro (and some #Alfred), some behind the scenes insights for a labs video I did with @macsparky.bsky.social, and a few software bits and pieces.

My monthly round up post for February is *finally* out. A new #Alfred workflow, a new #hamradio antenna, a #StreamDeck plugin update + the usual forum stuff, recommendations and additional curiosities. And still 100% free, though a coffee is always a tasty bonus ☕🤩

This is a screenshot of my new workflow, Lens, in action. When entered into Alfred, the keyword dynamically lists the available focus modes as well as a special “No Focus” option which turns off any enabled focus mode. Selecting another focus mode toggles it - if it is not active, it becomes the active focus mode, and it is active, it is simply deactivated.
Would you like to change #focus modes from the #Mac launcher app #Alfred?
I have just published a new workflow that might just help with that. It dynamically lists your available modes and lets you toggle them on/off.

With Jan in the rear view its time for my usual round up: Scripting on the blog, updating Apple devices OSes, fixes & enhancements in #Alfred workflows & my #Mac #Automation #StreamDeck plugin, plus I made a radio antenna, and maybe some software recommendations too.

We are a few days into 2026, so time for me to get my final 2025 monthly update out. This time there’s blogging, forum updates, #StreamDeck stuff, #3DPrinting a #HomeRacker setup, a MenuBox GitHub repo, #HamRadio bits, an #Obsidian vault update & some handy links.

I've been beyond busy for most of 2025, but a bit of down time over the last few days means I've been able to throw a few days of effort at the Automators Podcast #Obsidian vault and put out the first update in over 6 months! At least it is one more before the year's out.

If you haven’t already, also consider following me on 'Buy Me a Coffee'. It's totally free and you get the same monthly post sent to your mailbox when it is published.
My November round up post is now live. This month there's a bit on Alfred fort Mac, some interesting Drafts stuff, a little on 3D printing, some newbie ham radio stuff, and some tech links I've found useful this past month.

My October summary is now out. A much shorter read than usual I think (read for why), but with tips using a particular Windows file manager, some links to SVG, EMF, and LLM related resources I’ve been using this month, and some notes about some events I’ve attended.

Time once more for a monthly round up. More on text to speech on the Mac this month along with some radio stuff as well as the usual automation bits and pieces.

A little behind schedule, but my August update is live. There’s a bit about text to speech on the Mac, and a new section sharing some interesting links: a learning app, an app for travellers, and a documentation tool for devs.

I’ve been exploring text-to-speech on macOS over the recent months to address a requirement on my to do list. If you are interested in setting up local conversion of text to pretty decent speech, on #macOS, check out my latest blog post for a walk through.

My free monthly update for July is live. This month I've got a new #StreamDeck plugin for #Mac automation, an update to my #Alfred workflow for #KeyboardMaestro, something geeky on #SuccessFactors #Learning, and a new #3DPrint for #Underware2.0 (for #Multiboard).

Version 1.7.0: 2025-07-20 Add: New keyword flow to select and run a recently run macro, ordered by last execution time, and with an exclusion list. From a suggestion by yahsefrenel Add: New keyword and hotkey to run the last macro triggered to run from Conductor. Note, you must run a macro with this new version to start tracking the previously run macro for it to then be able to run it with this flow. Add: New keyword (and external trigger) to edit the last run macro (utilises the exclusion list). Note, potentially rather dangerous to have an option to run the last macro blind, so for that, I recommend using either of the prior two options so that you can have confidence in exactly what you are running. Add: New keyword to select and run a recently run macro, but delayed. Add: New keyword to run last edited macro. Add: New keyword to open Conductor workflow configuration. Add: Configurable keyword shortcuts for all keyword triggers. Add: Numerous external triggers are now callable via URL. Change: Extra resources now built dynamically and periodically updated from online GitHub repo. Change: A variety of small changes to add extra notes in the workflow, improve phrasing, add more information, etc. Remove: Removed ;km keyword for setting delay value - long deprecated, and can be set to that if required through custom keyword configuration. Docs: Expansion and revision of documentation. Docs: Updated workflow ‘About’ content.
v1.7.0 of Conductor, my #Alfred workflow for #KeyboardMaestro is now available with some great new features.
In fact, there are quite a lot of new features (list attached), with code and logic behind the scenes, so if you spot anything buggy, let me know.

Another monthly round up is out now. Find out what I got up to in May, including pieces on #KeyboardMaestro, #SuccessFactors Learning, #3DPrinted RC car ramps, and many other geeky things that crossed my path and my mind.

New post up using #KeyboardMaestro to build a piece of functionality I missed from the NoteTab text editor - something that while running appends any clipboard updates to a special clipboard. A bit like a printing calculator roll.

The #LovecraftInvestigations Kickstarter for #Crowley is less than £4K from its 1st stretch goal, and 19 days left. Is it a good omen? Will we get that new Mythos episode in which Lairre & Parker check out the goings on in Midwich? I hope so!

Time for my monthly round up of what I've been up to. A long and busy post this one with writing posts and changing processes, attending events, adding hardware, software, AI, 3D printing and probably lots of other stuff I just forgot 😆

If you use Alfred, there's a good chance I have a workflow you will find useful. These 14 workflows are all available right now on my website.
Fourth day of #Alfred workflow-related updates today, with updates for 'Slink' (a workflow for Brett Terpstra's SearchLink) and 'Noise Player'(I never remember what each system sound is like).
Find them and more at www.thoughtasylum.com/alfred/
An extra long weekend and the #Alfred workflow updates keep coming. This time an update to "Read the 🤐 Manual", a workflow for looking up 'man' pages to remove an outdated view option and add in new keyword options.

I recently posted about how I am using #Alfred to run commands in the warp.dev terminal app. If you want the custom terminal script and or workflow support, none of which use GUI scripting, you can find them in the post:

**Change Log** • Version 1.6.0: 2025-04-18 • Add: Specify shortcuts to be associated with an app and then launch a shortcut from that list when in that app. • Add: Specify shortcuts to be associated with a focus mode and then launch a shortcut from that list when in that focus mode. • Add: Configurable keyword shortcuts for all keyword triggers. • Add: Option to open the workflow configuration by keyword.
v1.6.0 of Bypass, my #Alfred workflow for Apple #Shortcuts is out today. You can now choose a shortcut to run from a set of shortcuts you associate with the current app or current focus mode, and also it's easier to specify your own trigger keywords.

March is here, so it's time for my February round up. For this past month it is mostly new bits of hardware and some 3D printing of storage/organisation-related solutions.

I've a new blog post out about using my new Logitech Litra Glow light. Being me though, somehow I got an old Raspberry Pi (with some very particular pieces of software), Apple #Shortcuts, #HomeAssistant, and #AutoHotkey involved in remote controlling it.
