”Gender” is increasingly used as a political signal. In a new Journal of Democracy article with Pär Zetterberg we show how authoritarians use 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 as flexible tools of power - different messages to different audiences, same goal: regime legitimation.
