For graphic novels, especially adult genre fiction, it's incredibly helpful to review it online, talk about it, recommend it to a friend—adult fiction in the graphic novel space is difficult to place, and nothing convinces readers that they'll like a book more than the personal testimonial.

it’s very important we let all companies that handle any sort of language dubs / subs for any media to know we find NONE of this to be acceptable. if it’s English, Spanish, Portuguese, it doesn’t matter — RESPECT the language you translate to by PUTTING ACTUAL WORK INTO IT or don’t even do it at all

an update to this: it seems they’ve (silently) removed the AI ENG version of their dubbed beta for some anime (Banana Fish included)

HOWEVER, the Spanish AI dub betas are still up. keep demanding for its removal please — all languages deserve equal respect with dubs and subs. thank you.

Amazon has had many opportunities to create dubbing projects filled with authentic storytelling, emotional connection, and believability. Instead they have chosen to create AI slop dubs of Banana Fish, Vinland Saga, and No Game No life. Many are calling these dubs "insulting" and "disrespectful".

once again if generative AI is meant to "make art accessible and cheaper for those who can't afford it" why are multibillionaire companies resorting to it? If Amazon can't be arsed to pay translators and actors, why tf should we pay for prime video?

I had only checked others that were on prime exclusively, I saw dororo had a Spanish ai, and Pet had english ai. Very concerning that this seems to show series with official english dubs are also being put into the ai beta dubbing

So this one confuses me even more. The show has a real English dub already....which is on Prime through Hidive. The movie was originally sub-only on Amazon.

I think we should be very concerned about when (not if) this is going to effect Japanese voice actors as well.

Ive already received a few comments like that on my tiktok videos about the situation. To bring the sub vs. dub debate into this when this is going to effect ALLLLLLL voice actors eventually. If you dont watch english dubs you should still be upset by this.

I assume this is an amazon thing only bc others have told me there are ai dubs on some K-dramas and C-dramas. But yes I have been wondering all these things as well

talking about this with peers. a couple of things:
1) who produced this "dub?" amazon or aniplex or someone else?
2) who worked on it? someone had to engineer it. what software was used? there is ONE LINE of info, haha.

also, if I were a news outlet, I'd be reaching out to aniplex for comment.

I've been staring at this screenshot and all I can feel is scared. I am scared for myself, my peers, and the entirety of the Voice Acting industry. If this continues to be normalized then we all will lose.

Please let Amazon know you want art for humans by humans without any form of generative AI.

Amazon, Banana Fish is only accessible via Amazon Prime in the US (idk if other countries have it on different platforms) there has never been a DVD release here either.

No Banana Fish never had an English dub before this and at least in the US Amazon Prime is the only official/ legal way to access it. We don't even have a DVD release.

The ai dubbing itself is bad. But especially on a series like Banana Fish in which so many fans, myself included, have been wanting and waiting YEARS for an official dub. And I know there are so many voice actors that would have jumped at this opportunity. It is such a beloved series.

Two more series i found with ai dubbing. Dororo has Spanish ai dubbing right now and Pet has english ai. I would not be surprised if theres more if they add titles to this program. This honestly so upsetting.
