Mayor Mamdani is right.
This is a outrageous display of NYPD brutality. The officers involved must be held accountable for their violence against this innocent New Yorker.

🗣️ We're suing: The government is required by law to ensure that young people have access to comprehensive reproductive care while in government custody.
But the Trump administration is keeping us in the dark about whether they are upholding that obligation.
BREAKING: We filed a lawsuit to demand more information from the Trump administration regarding their treatment of unaccompanied pregnant youth in federal custody.
With the Trump administration targeting, arresting, and even killing people for peaceful protest, the Governor should be defending New Yorkers’ First Amendment right to free speech – not jumping on Trump’s bandwagon in his authoritarian campaign against dissent.
Take action ⬇️
Governor Hochul is doubling down on her proposal mandating 25-foot no-speech buffer zones outside of houses of worship and reproductive healthcare facilities — holding up State budget negotiations in the process.
We’re in court today for the first time since ICE admitted to lying about the reasoning behind their unlawful courthouse arrests.
ICE cannot keep acting with impunity. We’re here to hold them accountable. @aclu.org
ALERT: Meta intends to add facial recognition technology to their AI glasses, enabling anyone wearing the product to immediately and invisibly identify strangers.
This is creepy, dangerous, and a huge breach of privacy.
Tell Meta to stick to eyewear, not spywear ⤵️
Good. The Pride flag belongs at Stonewall.
Queer people will never be erased, no matter how hard the Trump admin tries.
‼️ 23 people have died in ICE custody since October. People in detention report contaminated food and water, extended periods without medical care, and the widespread use of solitary confinement.

Graphic with quote "I am saying it clear and loud to President Trump and his Cabinet: I am not afraid of you.” The quote is attributed to Mohsen Mahdawi, student activist targeted for his speech upon being released from ICE detention. The graphic has a bright blue border with yellow and pink detailing, and at the top reads Arab American Heritage Month.

One year ago today, the Trump administration detained Palestinian activist Mohsen Mahdawi in retaliation for his advocacy.
Despite the Trump administration’s relentless campaign to deport and punish him for using his First Amendment rights, he's never lost his resolve to speak out and seek justice.
Our members are in Albany (again) today to show our state leaders to URGENCY of passing #NY4All.
Our communities are being cruelly targeted by the federal government and without the protections awarded by NY4All, every NYer will be left unprotected.
Call your reps: win.newmode.net/ny4all
“Having a trans kid quietly change in the corner of a locker room poses no danger. But telling them and the whole community that they don’t have rights and that we can ignore the law when it makes us uncomfortable can place so many kids in grave danger," said one parent at a board meeting.
The budget is late, but legislators in Albany are set to finalize our state budget soon.
Tell lawmakers you're countng on them to
👉Protect NYers from Trump’s mass deportation campaign
👉Invest in universal childcare
👉Secure funding to ensure trans people can get the health care they need
Eyewear embedded with facial recognition technology is a recipe for disaster — yet it’s exactly what Meta plans to enable with their AI glasses.
Meta must stop this all-out assault on our privacy and safety. Take action now:
NEW: We’re joined by 75 organizations in calling on Meta to cancel plans to install facial recognition technology on their “smart” glasses.
This dangerous tech paves a path for stalking and harassment, and is rife for abuse from stalkers, scammers, and government actors alike.

#OTD in 1968, the Fair Housing Act was signed into law, making housing discrimination illegal.
Today, discrimination persists through unequal access, zoning decisions, and rising costs, reminding us that true fair housing remains an unfinished promise.
Good - lawmakers are right to include the Youth Justice Innovation Fund in their 2027 budget proposals.
The funds are there. We must do more to support alternatives to incarceration for young people. This is a critical first step.
Thousands of New Yorkers have been harmed by the SRG, and they have long demanded City leaders take action to end the unit’s abuse. The CURB Act would ensure that New Yorkers can speak out without fear of militarized police violence.
City leaders should act NOW and pass the CURB Act without delay.
Today we celebrate Dolores Huerta—a leader who turned organizing into power and fought for dignity, fair wages, and justice for farmworkers.
Her legacy lives on in every voice that refuses to be ignored.
Happy birthday, Dolores Huerta! Sí se puede. ✊🏽
NEW: The Board of Immigration Appeals just denied Mahmoud Khalil’s bid to throw out his deportation case.
However, Mahmoud can't be legally detained again until his habeas appeals process is exhausted in federal court. We'll keep defending his right to live in this country and speak freely.
For over a year, immigration agents have treated NY like a constitution-free zone, unlawfully profiling and detaining Black + Brown NYers to support Trump’s deportation agenda.
This is discriminatory, unconstitutional, and an affront to the rights of all NYers. We're confident the court will agree.
📣 Every no-speech proposal under consideration in Albany will curtail the right to protest and speak freely in public.
As the Trump admin continues to target, arrest, and even murder ordinary citizens for peaceful protest, state lawmakers must stand up for NY and defend the First Amendment.
I'm proud to see @nyclu.org, @maketheroadny.bsky.social, and @legalaidnyc.bsky.social fight to uphold the Constitution and protect the rights of all New Yorkers.
No one should live in fear of being targeted by masked federal agents because of the color of their skin.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of eight Latino New Yorkers who were unlawfully stopped and arrested by ICE or CBP agents. This policy of racial profiling is illegal and unconscionable.
Filed with @legalaidnyc.bsky.social, @maketheroadny.bsky.social, and Covington & Burling LLP.
New Yorkers going about their lives - heading to work, taking their kids to school, or grocery shopping - should not have to fear being suddenly snatched by masked agents and arrested w/o probable cause.
We're confident the court will agree.
🚨 NEW: For months, ICE and CBP agents have been unlawfully stopping and arresting thousands of Black and Brown people in pursuit of the Trump administration’s sky-high immigration arrest quotas.
Today we're filing a class-action lawsuit against DHS for their illegal and discriminatory actions.
“It’s clear that the purpose of this policy is to silence protected speech, deny residents their expressive rights to the sidewalks and streets, and to give Nassau police cover to conduct arbitrary and biased arrests," said NYCLU senior staff attorney JP Perry.
There is still much more to do to attend to detainees with care and dignity, and close Rikers for good. This expansion, while needed, is years behind schedule and seriously over budget.
Next, the Mayor must prioritize better care for detained New Yorkers with mental health challenges.
Good - seriously ill detainees should not remain on Rikers, where neglect and abuse proliferates.
This is one important step, out of many more, on the path to closing Rikers for good.
