Just here to remind everyone that while the federal government is shutdown, all study sections at the NIH are currently on hold. Another blow to science and to early career scientists like myself with young labs and research groups. Very hard to remain positive about this career path.

Elections aren’t every 4 years or every 2 years, they’re every year. In California we have a special election for prop 50 and it’s a YES. If Texas can gerrymander then we should be able to. I know my comments will be filled with bots, but I won’t be intimidated. Our democracy is vanishing❤️

George Floyd should still be here to celebrate his 52nd birthday. His life sparked a movement, and our fight for justice, accountability, and humanity continues. We’ll never stop saying his name.

Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem, and DHS need to answer for their unchecked attacks on Chicago residents.

ICE is an out-of-control danger to our peaceful communities.

The images from the Sun-Times today speak for themselves.

Agreed. We seem to have lost our voice and the media that would previously seek us out, are no longer interested! Yet, these are some of the most crushing issues facing society.

In April NPR profiled people who couldn't get their HIV drugs. How are they faring now? In Zambia, we met people who are HIV positive, couldn't get drugs to suppress the virus after U.S. aid cuts and were seeing symptoms. We checked in on them — and the man who's been their champion.

This why accurate journalism and reporting matters so much . After @npr.org reported on these individuals who faced death without access to ART after the US pulled foreign funding, the Zambian government stepped up, got in contact and providing life saving meds. A win!

It’s time to take a stand. ICE is not welcome in Illinois. Let’s stand up for our friends and neighbors and send these masked goons packing.

I completely agree. Throw in low covid vaccine and flu vaccine rates given the ongoing misinformation and access barriers from the top, the threat of birdflu that never really went away and we are entering a very uncertain respiratory virus season in the US.

California, Oregon and Washington announced yesterday they’ve created their own health alliance, saying the CDC has become “a political tool that increasingly peddles ideology instead of science.”

New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island have now done the same.
