I'm limited in ability to post today, so I'll repost last year's BOTD tribute to late film composer Michael Kamen (1948-2003)
He departed too soon, but left us with memorable scores and a foundation that has been keeping music education alive in schools for 30 years at mhopus.org

Looks like they all did - I was struggling to find a decent picture!
If I remember correctly, Skids’ Diaclone antecedent came with the scooter.
fucking chromaticism
I want to hear Michael Nyman’s score for this one.
This is great! I had no idea that early season two episodes aired with the season one titles.
This video encapsulates 2025 for me.
I must've watched it 100 times already. It just gets better.
With a superb score by the late, great Christopher Gunning.

Not that I’m biased or anything, but Jim is the best name for a cat.

‘Ferociously strange’ sums it up very well. Not sure I recommend following it up with Martin Campbell’s film remake starring Mel Gibson, but the rejected John Corigliano score is an entertaining (and also quite strange) listen.
I wouldn’t say no to an Alan Silvestri score either!
Is this also a good excuse to eat a steak like Dolph Lundgren?
Unsolicited duck pic.
Piers Morgan is the incurable super-gonorrhoea of…what does he do, anyway?
I’ve posted this wonderful 1987 photo of Philip Glass & his cat by Ebet Roberts before…

#KlausDoldinger was considered Germany's "King of Jazz." As the composer of the "Tatort" theme tune and the film score of "Das Boot" or "Die unendliche Geschichte," he immortalized himself among an audience of millions. He has now died at the age of 89.

A closeup photo of composer Marco Beltrami, wearing glasses and a black shirt, with a piano in the background.
A birthday shoutout to composer Marco Beltrami.
Known for his scores for SCREAM and other horror films, he has a very wide range, and has worked with Guillermo del Toro, James Mangold, Kathryn Bigelow and others.
Emmy winner and Academy Award nominee Beltrami is 59 today.
