🧵Spotted While Roaming in Aotearoa New Zealand:
In a library, a small human (4?) is trying to pick a book but she's not sure which one!
(Oh no!)
Does she want this one...
This one?
THESE ONES?
THOSE ones?!
With an exasperated roar, she beseeches the library gods: "WHY are there SO MANY?!" (1)

APPEAL FOR BIKERS.
A good man lost his daughter Amelia in tragic circumstances over the weekend and it would mean a lot if any #bikers available joined in her last journey from Glanmire to Ringaskiddy #Cork on Tues 21st April.
Amelia's great loves were bikes and huskies.

Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage. A woman answers the door. We have come for the child, says the hooded figure So soon? she asks It is time, says the hooded figure. The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card! What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading! For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman, the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them. Do not cry mother. I am a writer now.

“Take a moment to think before you dive in. That’s the best advice for Google Photos users, as the company confirms its latest update can scan all your photos to “use actual images of you and your loved ones” in AI image generation.”

It's a miracle!
A cartoon showing a viking building a large ship from Lego. Two other vikings are standing in front of the ship-in-progress, one of whom is saying "I tell you, Lego Legosson, your method of building will never catch on".
Talked about vikings a lot in my lecture this afternoon. Happy Friday, everyone!
It would communicate a message to me very clearly, one that I wouldn't like. It wouldn't stop me being professional in my service delivery though and I wouldn't ask you to take it off. (Reposted for extra clarity)

Eyes on the prize.
Huffing and chuffing into the children's book section.
Spinning around and giving Mum a big goofy smile.

In a toy shop: A man (80s?) is studying a great wall of board games. He says with heartfelt sincerity to the owner: "I want to get my grandson something he'll enjoy for his birthday. He's a lovely boy. And I'd like to see him happy." (1)
🧵Spotted on Market Day in Aotearoa New Zealand:
A couple (60s?) are cosied up next to each other under a big shady tree, reading a shiny new children's book.
An unused gift bag poking out of their colourful shopping basket.
Heads bowed together, laughing as they turn the pages. (1)
The IG algorithm finally showed me some positive content — turns out the chefs of some European embassies have been participating in, what seems to be, a cooking challenge in DC 🧑🍳

We’ve spent the last 48 hours coordinating the logistics and prep work necessary to get our soup run stationed at the GPO. When we got to the top of O’Connell Street, the Guards wouldn’t allow us to go through, but after much persuasion, they escorted us with a patrol car up to the GPO. Given the current situation, we truly appreciate them assisting us despite having their hands full. We arrived and were surprised that the queue was not as large as expected. When we got there, a lot of people thought that we wouldn’t be able to get through. Soon the word got out and the queue became much longer. Everything went well; we had a lot of food and donations. A huge shout out to little Amelia who came to our office and donated €50 from her birthday money as well as her Easter eggs—such kindness and beauty in such a young child. A credit to her mammy and daddy. Tonight took a deeply upsetting turn. As we were finishing our service, we were approached by a group of five or six individuals carrying Irish flags. They began shouting xenophobic rhetoric, telling us this country is "only for the Irish," that we don't belong here, and that we should "go home." In a beautiful show of solidarity, those around the GPO immediately spoke up, asserting that we are Irish. However, the situation turned hostile. Our Chairperson and founder was targeted with verbal abuse and told to "go back where she came from"—despite being from Coolock. It was clear that because she wears a hijab, her identity as an Irish woman was being questioned.
n 11 years of service, we have never experienced such verbal abuse. It was difficult to maintain the peace, but the homeless community—truly amazing people—stepped up to protect us. We are grateful that the situation eventually de-escalated and the Gardaí arrived to disperse the group. Providing 300 meals to those in need only to be met with hate is sickening. But let it be known: we remain undeterred. We are united, and we will always be there for the less fortunate, regardless of their background. In Ireland, you don’t need an ID to receive a warm meal from a soup run. We can’t do this without your constant support. If you would like to help us or donate, please visit https://msoe.ie/donate/.
Please see the post on Muslim Sisters of Éire's facebook page. Shame on these feral thugs, they are far from patriots. If you'd like to donate to the Muslim Sisters of Éire to help them feed our homeless - msoe.ie/donate/

There was a faint puff of smoke from the bottle, and a small genie appeared.
"You have freed me," it said, "so I'm obliged to grant you a wish."
It hesitated. "But I am not very powerful."
I nodded. "Of all things I need, give me the greatest you can."
Suddenly, I held a large mug of hot cocoa.
Those shoes are awesome!
Congratulations 🎉
