Y'know how I was knitting all those square softies? Well, I've turned to bunnies... www.studioknitsf.com/how-to-knit-... They take less than an hour to do (I fail at faces and pompoms...)

One that stays with me was getting out of a cab at midnight - and three young women, who really wanted the cab, refused to get into it as they were going to walk me home instead! They thought it was too late for me to be alone, which was lovely (they got the cab as we were at my front gate).

I feel we can all use some cheering up. What's happened to you that's nice? Simple, little things?

As do small cats... HLS (her Ladyship) has been with me since 2007 - she came to me a couple of months after becoming a widow (me, not the cat, who as far as I know, is sublimely unattached).

Academics, please tell me I'm not the only one who, in writing a draft of a paper, has written a note that says, either 'Where are you going with this?' and/or 'Really? You're going there?' as a note to self? (Both found in today's typing of up hand written notes.

I could not agree with you more. The same with the idea that humour has no place in learning, that all learning must be FULL ON ALL THE TIME and that someone looking out of the window is not learning (IME, they may well be thinking new thoughts sparked by, y'know, LEARNING...).

Someone on my FB posted a church's Loud Child policy - which had a lot of things like, If your child is crying, etc - and the end of every one of them was BRING YOUR CHILD, your child is welcome.
I was very aprehensive when I saw it but happy when I read it...
