I’m a 74 year old unpaid carer and I wrote to my MSP about this as I am very angry that I may bring Covid into the house inadvertently. My caree has been in hospital 3 times over the past 2 years.

A wee change from the sunsets, snow greets us this second day of 2025.

And this one was last night. A bit pinker last night.

Another glorious sunset, this time Christmas Eve…

They must hold all state pensioners info. The reason I think this is even if not paying tax yet - but with frozen thresholds that day looms for all - because your tax code is always applied to your state pension first and any other incomes next, HMRC is involved even if not yet paying tax.

On that we are in complete agreement. I just worry about friends who are borderline outside the pension credit cut off - one by about £4 - and she really needed that allowance. And it’s freezing up here! Although to be fair it is everywhere today.

Ok I agree it’s not quite as simple as whether or not you are eligible for pension credit but it’s not administratively impossible. The info I can access on myself for example tells me HMRC knows every little detail about me.

They already have the info through HMRC

And it would be so easy for the government to check through HMRC
